Another quick e-party question

My grandmother is throwing us an engagement party at her home. We really do not want gifts, we just want celebrate with the people we love. Is it appropriate to put in the invite a "no gifts please clause" or should we just not even mention it? I don't want to be tacky but I also don't want anyone to feel obligated.

people won't feel obligated, and if someone brings a gift be gracious and say thank you. It is never ok to put info about gifts on an invite

ditto - it is never appropriate to mention gifts in an invitation except for a shower.  Even to say no gifts shows the assumption that a gift will be given which is presumptuous.
