Wedding Hangover

Ok its been three days since the wedding and I still feel sooo tired.  I got maybe 4 hours of sleep total the last 3 days before the wedding and not much the days before then. I tried to go into work today but my secretary (very much my work mom) sent me home today because I was so tired.

We are waiting to go on our honeymoon - which I guess was a bad call.  Did any of you ladies go through this?

Re: Wedding Hangover

  • Yes! It's like a whole body exhaustion.  It happened with every massive event I planned when that was my job, too. It's like the adrenaline and stress keep you going... and the moment the event is over your body just shuts DOWN. Take extra vitimins, too- I'd often end up getting sick after an event as well... How long until your HM?
  • Nope.  I felt great.  We slept in the day after and I was fine.

But, then again, I slept like a rock in the days leading up to the wedding, so...

  • Ugh - not until March!  I just need to sleep but I have a hard time napping.  Oh well - I guess laying in bed and knotting counts as resting right?

  • Sure! On the plus side, you're not all exhuasted and blah for your HM! :)

Take a benadryl to help you nap, if you have a hard time doing it. Works wonders. :)
  • I was tired. And worked for the week after the wedding before we took our mini-moon.  I just remember wanting the whole week off.

  • I went on a honeymoon right after so I caught up on my sleep. if I'd had to go back to work, I'm sure I'd feel the same way.
  • Mine was 7/16/10 and it was a whole week end of activities with the moms and other out of town guests.  Unfortunately, due to staff shortage at the clinic, I had to go back to work last Tuesday.  I guess I should be grateful I got Monday off <sigh>
  • I went through what you may call a hangover. But I also attribute it to starting my period the day after. Thank god it gave me a reprieve.
But I couldnt function for about 2 weeks after.

  • Well I just woke up from a nap which felt amazing.  I hope that I feel better tomorrow because I actually do have some lawyer work to do.

  • I was exhausted after our wedding.  It didn't help that the alarm in our hotel room on our wedding night went off at 5 facking A.M., and I was so wired and exhaused I couldn't go back to bed for an hour.

  • I took my sleeping pills to help me sleep before the wedding, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten any sleep leading up to it. so I wasn't exhausted. H and I slept in our first day on the honeymoon though, and took naps.

I slept great the week leading up but felt the same "hangover" you did .  We traveled 6 hours for our wedding, then we had to driving home 2 days after and I had to be back at work, then he built a deck the next weekend while i drove 2 hours to do a race.... i think i still need a nap and that was 3 weeks ago

But even without the extra stuff i think it is normal to have a wedding take a lot out of you and you need some recoup time

  • I've discovered that eating left over wedding cake seems to help the wedding hangover.

  • My wedding was Saturday and we both slept most of the next day.  But I spent my whole reception with a migraine, so that could have been part of it.

  • I slept much better than you did, but I had a huge migraine hangover the day after the wedding (hello wine and sleeping with heater on) that was a literal hangover.

PS: Where are pictures?!? Off to seek out thread!

  • I haven't had my wedding yet so I can't comment on that part.

    Congratulations.

Also try Simply Sleep, I have taken it a few times when I couldn't sleep and I was in pain, and it helped. I didn't feel groggy in the morning either.

Good luck I hope you're back to normal soon!!  Have a great honeymoon too!!!
  • Just wanted to tell you that I'm in love with your sweet cat!  What a great picture!

  • We are getting married in November (the weekend before Thanksgiving) and won't be taking our honeymoon until February 2011..  I was planning on going back to work after the wedding for the three days before Thanksgiving, but now I am thinking I should just request the entire week of Thanksgiving off from work to just relax after the wedding.  I am glad I read this!  And.. I agree, I love the cat!  It's so cute! :)
