Seeded Paper Invitations

Has anyone used these? Where did you go through? Did you think it was worth it? If you haven't used these do you think it is a "good" idea?

Are these the invitations that you can just stick in the ground and flowers grow? I have heard they are notorious for having weed (not pot) seeds in it and in some cases the weeds can be invasive. If thats not what youre talking about disregard what I just said.
  • I looked into them, well for favors, but I did look into invitations too and found them to be really expensive.  I think the likelihood that people would actually plant them is pretty slim.  I only know a few people who garden or plant flowers, out of the 150 people we invited.  You really just have to look at your budget and your guest list to think about whether it's worth it to you or not.

  • They are the ones that you can stick in the ground and grow.  From what I can tell most of the not-super-cheap places let you chose what kind of seed you want in the mix, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they aren't just putting in some random seed.  I guess that is definitely something to think about, I don't want be the cause of someone having to be weeding their garden like crazy.

Well, I have found them to be a bit more expensive.  However, I really enjoy the look, and I think my guests would find it unique and interesting.  Even if it doesn't get planted (which I do definitely realize most would not) they will still be more environmentally friendly than the alternative.  Plus I'm only sending out about 50 invitations and hope to find a DIY kit.  If I had 100+ to mail out the cost difference would probably mean more to me.

  • If you're looking for environmentally friendly and knowing that not many, if any, guests would actually plant them, you could also look into invitations made with recycled paper.  Some are made with flowers, some are just recycled paper, there are lots of options.

  • costco weddings sells them.  I had a sample mailed to me when I was first looking at invitations, and was dissapointed in how they looked.  At least get a sample before ordering in bulk to see if you really like it.
  • If you get them custom printed they are expensive. The paper alone is $5 a sheet.

I can't imagine anyone actually using them, so I didn't go with them, even though I love the idea of it.

www.rossprint.com does them. I know right now they are booked out 6 weeks.
