Where is everyone?

PS: Is it just me, or are the boards pretty much unusable today?

And I have to add in regards to horror spider, the reason I'm scared is because stuff like that is abnormal. I promise you that if you come to australia and stay in anywhere near civilisation (aka one of the cities), you will not come by anything at all like that! We do have an acre and a half of bush behind our house... thus freaky monster spiders outside.

  • ewww.  That would scar me for life!  Actually, it has scarred me.

We didn't have Funnel Webs, the black spider has a funnel in it's web.  Frankly that's too fine of a line for my liking.

  • I agree about the boards. I am getting so many errors that it is barely worth hanging around.

    Our Story MAJORLY UPDATED 8/6/09
Wouldn't it be nice to live together in the kind of world where we belong?
  • Oh! That was one of the spiders that I had seen in here- I hadn't seen it before and thought it was something dangerous. It presumably came in after my brother left the window open in the study for a few days (without realising the screen was missing). It was only small, but freaky looking, and hanging out between a chair and the floor. Nick killed that one for me, too. :P

I used to have an aversion to killing spiders- I felt sorry for them. I reserve that only for huntsmen now- because they are harmless- and even then, I'd let H kill one if it were to step foot in our house. Ewww.

I try not to kill the outside spiders (don't want to be responsible for destroying the ecosystem!) but when they're near our house, they have to go.

  • uhm, yeah, anything that can count it's offspring in the thousands...gets to die if I see it.  The ecosystem will survive with a few less spiders.

I told you the stopry of the huntsman, my foot and the new coffee stain on BILs new sofa?

Hahaha yes. A very entertaining story, too! :P

Do you want to know something REALLY hideous?

My MOH and her FI went with a few of their friends recently for a 'holiday' at Fraser Island. Fraser is a gorgeous place (although I've only been once on a day trip as a child), but it's basically a giant rainforest type reserve... It's a fair drive away (I think it's something like 300 kms north). Anyway, my MOH was freaked out by the possibility of spiders, and decided to stay in the house they rented while her FI went for a bushwalk. During the walk, a fly landed on his foot, and then out of nowhere, this absolutely giant spider (actually called a bird eating spider, though they don't usually eat birds apparently. Like this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/c2/Male_goliath_birdeater_111508_013.jpg/180px-Male_goliath_birdeater_111508_013.jpg) apparently the size of a small saucer, jumped onto his foot to catch the fly.

Needless to say, my MOH refused to go anywhere near the bush/rainforest for the rest of that trip!

H says that they had those giant spiders where he grew up in the rainforest on Mt Tamborine. I don't think I could cope.

  • See, sun, I told you so!!!!

Anyway, I am going to put on some walking shoes and go to the aquarium to walk around for a bit.  I need to get out and enjoy the sunshine...

    Now with more wedded bliss.

I don't get married often, but when I do, I do it in Las Vegas.

  • oh yes, I have heard of the Bird Spider.  H told me about those.  Apparently they can get to the size of a dinner plate.

And I'm right there with your MOH.  In fact I would have taken it a step further and just left the island.

  • She would have too, if she could have- the only way off and on was via 4WD and it took 4 hours to reach the ferry from where they were staying, so she was trapped. She wasn't very impressed by the whole situation either, I can tell you that much! :P

and smokey, I believe that is a great idea. Now I am awake, it's time to put down the laptop! Enjoy your walk.

  • Ha julez- sorry I'm like 6 hours late, but no I can't watch that one instantly. We just started Netflix, and honestly I'm a little disappointed at the tiny selection of movies to watch instantly considering all the advertising they've done for it lately.

  • I'm way late and don't give a shiit.

I just got chills from those pictures. I hate spiders. especially big ones. I love Oz though and can't wait to go back.

point of the thread: FI and I finally registered today, so that's done. then we returned the electric mattress pad his mom got him for Christmas, but couldn't find an electric blanket (blanket being eleventy x warmer than the mattress pad) to replace it with. turns out all the Walmarts within a 15 minute drive of us (there's like 5) are sold out. FML. then I fixed the registry some more online. now I'm being a selfish bitch because I don't want to go to a Cowboys game-watching party at FI's friend's house.
