When I applied for a new job 2 months ago, I was told if I were hired, I would start the following week after the final interview. No problem. After the final interview, I was offered the job but was informed that plans have changed and I would not be able to start working until January. I did some research and found out that grant funding did not come in ontime so the project start date was delayed. This is a state job.
So here's the problem, If I started working when they intially said, I would have had enough days on the job to qualify for time off for the honeymoon. The wedding is in January and so far we haven't booked the honeymoon as yet. An official offer should be coming soon but when do I tell them that I am getting married? There is a lot of travelling involved, mostly overnight and weekend trips, and I just don't know how to go about this.
I really don't want to start a new job asking for time off. I've told my fiance that we could possibly push the honeymoon back but he's not too thrilled with that idea. I'm stuck. Advice needed.
