Bridesmaid gifts

Hey ladies, didnt know where else to post this.  So i'm having a hard time coming up with ideas for my girls.  My best friend is soon to be 21 and my sister is 13.  I have some ideas for my bf but i'm struggling with my sisters gift.  I know the gift is supposed to be something personal and with a lot of thought put into it, but the problem is she doesnt wear jewelry, she doesnt use bags or purses and she doesnt use a journal or anything like that.  But she does like clothes.  especially brand name clothes like hollister and abercrombie.  would it be tacky to get her a gift card to one of these places.  our wedding is just past the beginning of her school year so she would love having new clothes and since she doesnt have a job she has no money to buy her own.  thoughts?? thanks ladies!!

Re: Bridesmaid gifts

  • I don't think that's tacky at all.  As a 13 year old I would have LOVED that. I say go for it.
  • I'd get her the gift card.  I'm sure she'll love it, which is all that matters!

  • I totally would have loved that when I was that age.  Instead of having to rely on Mom to take me to Sears to get new clothes?  Yes please!

  • It's not tacky if there's thought behind it!  Sounds perfect for a 13 yr old!
  • That's a great idea! I got all of my BMs some bath & body stuff from Victoria's Secret, and a gift card to their favorite store.
  • Sounds good to me.

And your screen name made me laugh!

  • much better than something stupid she won't use :)

I gave my BM's a fun gift, but also got them GC's to their favorite stores.
  • I agree with PPs -- but maybe also try to find her a little something that she'll have forever that will remind her of the wedding. She may not wear jewelry now, but it might be nice to get her a little something that she could wear later in life and think of you :)
  • I would LOVE a gift card over most of the normal junk people give out as BM gifts.  At 30 or 13.   I think thats a great gift, especially if its a store she loves anyways.

  • I always appreciate gift cards no matter what age I am, and do not find them tacky in the least.
