Getting married and knocked up!  And making some friends in Arkansas.

Oh, and mine would be BF's job. I have always thought that they treat him like crap and take advantage of him a lot. But the past couple months he has been getting a lot of compliments, and we just found out that he will probably be getting a big promotion around February. He is so excited and I am so glad that someone is finally noticing him working his ass off.

I've worked at this company for 3+ years.  In all this time we've never once gotten a Christmas bonus..... until this year.  I was shocked.

Amoro, sounds like we're kinda in the same boat.  At least you have some idea about where you're going...we still have no idea.

Well, I got married, so there's that...

My crappy best friend from the other thread had the cutest baby girl ever this year.

My family -and my husband's family have really been great to us this year. I know that they'd do anything for us if we needed it.

I totally won the parent/family lottery. I adore my family.
I got engaged this year!
I found an awesome job in September that pays really well and my employers truly care about me and my well being and reward me accordingly for the work I do for them. I'm extremely thankful for that.

Ok, here's a happy story. Bec knows this one already because it reminded me a lot of her and her H. 

Y'all know my sister has had the worst-frickin-year-ever, what with her husband of ten years turning out to have a bit of a prostitute habit. So they're getting a divorce and he's being a Grade A douchebag, blah blah blah. 

A little over a month ago she had a sudden urge to call her ex boyfriend. He wasn't happy to hear from her and pretty much hung up on her. She persisted, wrote him an email apologizing that she just called him suddenly out of the blue and asked if he'd at least have dinner with her. She wasn't interested in rekindling the romance, but she wanted to know how he was. He agreed to meet her for dinner. Over the course of the night he confessed that he'd never stopped loving her, had never married because no one was as good as her, etc. She was very scared and doubtful that after over a decade apart anything could happen between them again. 

But somehow... he's proved himself to her again and again. All of the issues that existed before that caused their breakup (mainly that he was a total comiittment-phobe, didn't want to be in a confining relationship, etc.) are gone. He swears he would marry her tomorrow if he could. He is being a better parent figure to her two kids than their own asshole father is. 

I really think even though her heart is broken over her disaster of a marriage she may have finally found the guy who can make her  happy. He's coming over for Christmas and I can't wait to see him again! It's been a long time!

Manda that is an awesome story.

Let's see, things I'm happy about for the past year...S telling his whole family that we are getting married next year and seeing how happy it made them. I won the family lottery as well. Also, seeing my dad so happy in his semi-retirement is wonderful. He always has a smile on his face. Finally, we didn't lose any family members this year. This is huge because last year we had three losses in a 6-week period. It was really difficult.

I'm really happy that we've been able to travel this year (we went to Tampa and Memphis) with great friends, that two of our closest friends made the trip up to Indiana to see us, that we got our new patio with built-in firepit, and that I have an H who is awesome and is always trying to make me laugh.

Also, I'm thankful that I just downloaded the Mariah Carey song "Fantasy." So stupid, but it puts me in a good mood. I crave bad 90's music too often for my own good.
