Friends (Knotties) Exposed

Which knottie: ....

Knows how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop?
Would invite you to a "raging" party?
Has changed your life the most this year (or 2009)?
Would you like to get stuck with on an island?
Would you help in a fight?
Makes you laugh the most?
Has made you happy today?

What single word describes the knot?
What is one random thing about a knottie?

Re: Friends (Knotties) Exposed

  • between the Name a Knottie earlier this week, the whole Rach & Amoro thing that spread into even more threads, and the longest FFF i have ever lurked through (but I'm a newbie), I feel like P&E has been in in the icebreaker part of intensive group therapy for 3 days. I've just been reading it all and its emotionally draining.

Can we find something to talk about besides each other?

I missed all of this. This is what happens when I cant get on here  much due to  my sucktastic last three days of a carbon monoxide leak, broken furnace, no heat, and backed up/frozen water pipes.
  • I totally missed the whole cord blood thing.  I definitely would have weighed in on that.

  • What page is the fff on? The only one I see is a work fff, is that what youre talking about?

  • Dont see it? I just went back 2 pages.
  • I totally missed the cord one, too. Anyone care for a recap? What was the general consensus?
  • pooh - I can tell you that we're going to look into public banking.  DH feels strongly about donating and helping others and we would feel better about using some if we needed it some day.  We can't justify the expense, plus there are many things that you wouldn't be able to use the baby's own cord blood to cure, anyway.

Not to restart the discussion, lol.

  • Hmm, but I thought people were referencing the cord blood thread in fff.  Meaning it happened in the past and I missed it.

I think there were a few references to it, but not that many. I don't remember when cord blood was discussed, but it was the same day as assisted suicide and capital punishment.. it was a heavy day

  • cord blood was discussed on Wednesday, I think. my memory is fallible though.

    sucrets, thanks for the answer.

  • This poll thing requires way more thought than Im willing to commit to at nearly 11pm. Had I been drinking I probably would answer, but im not, so im boring and lazy.
  • I started the original cord blood thread, because I heard an ad on the radio about it. I think the title of the thread is "I heard an ad on the radio." No one was really flamed over it today in FFF, it was just a discussion that some were passionate about and that was overall pretty interesting. And then threads on other controversial topics followed.

  • Thanks, lauren.  I was wondering when I missed it.

The sad thing is that private banking is getting all of the advertisement and people think that it's the only way to go.

If I had an extra 3k laying around, then maybe I'd consider it.  Oh, and they keep the costs hidden until you ask for more info about it.

  • So...so far I'm the only loser with nothing better to do that the poll? In that case, I take back all my answers and vote myself most likely to go against the grain
  • The ad I heard was for donations, specifically.  I had honestly never heard of, nor knew anything about this before. I guess that's why I found it interesting enough to post about. I thought about it like donating organs, because I had no idea you could save cord blood for personal use.

  • Oh wow, that's pretty cool then!  The only stuff that I hear or see is for the uber expensive private stuff.  Since DH is the one who is really into it, I'm assigning him to look into it, lol.

  • Ooo, DH just showed me a link from his hospital.  Our choices are private, public, or donating to science.

  • I like the donating to science idea best, I think. Maybe because I'm arrogant enough to think that banking cord blook would never benefit me because I will give birth to the healthiest children on the planet. **Runs in other room to knock wood on real wood coffee table.**

Seriously though, I really like the idea of donation. I don't have any genetic diseases that run in my family (that I'm aware of) and I have never once considered the thought of storing cord blood and I think it's too cost prohibitive for FI and me, even 5 or 6 years down the road. So since it didn't occur to me first, and I might not need it, I'm inclined to donate. Maybe karma will be nice to me :)
