OP...Don't ask your dad to pay for your rehearsal dinner. If he hasn't offered, let it go and budget to pay for it yourself. Also, I understand where you're going with the ice luge. We're having one as well and they are very elegant if done correctly. I think you're talking more along the lines of this and not that cheap amazon one from the earlier poster:

My only point to the thread was I was not sure if it was good etiquitte or not to ask; I've never planned a wedding before and won't need to again, so it was just one of those things I wasn't sure if I should ask him or not, which is why I made a point to mention if it was something he'd feel uncomfortable about I wouldn't bother asking.  Since it is rude to do so and bad etiquitte, I won't be asking.

Exactly 2010Bride2be, what I had in mind was not recreating a college party for doing shots, it was going to be something artistic incorporated into some type of seafood bar like shrimp cocktails, etc.; they run a few grand so that's one of those things where if we're over budget already, it's getting cut before more important things.

she's right. you can totally get one for cheap. they're not as nice as the special made custom ones, but could work if you really want one. point taken. thanks.

Oh I knew this is where the OP was going, but all I can see is a huge waste of money.

Although after clicking the link, I desperately want a Menorah ice luge.
