Re: How long did you wait.

  • Got engaged after 11 months of dating
Will be married after 3+ years of being together
    2+ year engagement.
  • My friend did this. They're expecting their first baby and have only known each other for about a year and a half... but if it works it works!

[QUOTE]Will and I only dated 3 months before we got engaged.  We are getting married on 1.1.11 only 5 1/2 months after we met.  It's true - when you know, you just know  :)

  • Bubbalub, I win on this one.  We have been together for 19 years.  We really decided to make it legal about six months ago and will be married, if he doesn't mess up, in twelve days.

  • We got engaged 2 years and 7.5 months after we first met and are getting married 11months + a day after we got engaged!

I don't think anyone can tell you its too short or long of an amount of time before an engagement - it all depends on the couple.
  • My fiance and I got engaged about 2 months after we started dating. We'd known each other for over a year and a half beforehand just as friendly aqcuaintences. When we started to really get to know each other and become a couple we just knew this was it. On our first date, I could just feel it as we kept talking. We just had a connection right off the bat. We didn't feel like waiting long enough for it to be "proper". We've been living together for about 3 weeks now, and a couple of days before we moved in together we were handfasted--an old celtic tradition of a "trial marriage for a year and a day"--so we act as though we're already married because in spirit we are. We just haven't signed the contract yet. Smile
  • We went and bought rings after 7 years of living together & 9 years of being together.  Officially proposed, with a past, present, future necklace at the 14 year mark & we are finally getting married in May.

  • I met my FI in August 2009, moved in together in September 2009 (yes, a month later), and got engaged in March 2010. I'm getting married Sept. 2012.
Things moved very fast with us and I have no regrets. I won't have any surprises after we get married because I already know his bad habits. My mom thought we were getting married too soon but she had a talk with me one day and said, "I have never seen you happier, than when you are with him."
She is right, and I don't care what anyone thinks.
Every relationship is different. I don't think anyone can say if it's too soon...but you.
