Sunday Weddings

Recently while looking at dates for the wedding, we decided on possibly going with a Sunday wedding. My mother thinks that it may be conflict of interest because a number of people we know do attend church on Sundays. She claims that it would make people have to choose between going to church or going to the wedding. Please help.

Re: Sunday Weddings

  • Honestly I have a ton of heavy church goers attending our wedding and all of them would be totally ok skipping one church day for a wedding. Also many churches offer multiple services on sunday and saturday. People can always attend a different service.

Also food for thought, if you have a lot of OOT guests, even if it were a saturday reception these OOT guests probably would be missing church while they were traveling home.

  • We were thinking of having it in the afternoon.

  • I don't think this will be a problem.  Most people I know (even the very religious ones) will skip church for one day to go to a wedding, like PP said.  And if it is in the afternoon, they can do both.
  • I am having my wedding Sunday afternoon.  People can still go to church in the morning or even Saturday.

  • It shouldn't be a problem. My ceremony is 3pm on a Sunday and it goes into early evening.  So thoses that are local can work the next day.  OOT guests are flying in and staying a day or so anyway.
