Ok, this is gross to me.

I know we've all laughed about the cloth pads that you can get on Etsy and various other places here.  But I'm reading that "Under $1000 a Month" blog, and they're talking about cloth toilet paper.  I'm sorry, but I can't fathom washing poopy cloths every week.  Cloth diapers gross me out too.  I had to share my disgust.

Bec, I heard that in some culture(s), people traditionally use their left hand to wipe their bums in the desert, which is why they refuse to shake hands with any hand but their right. Clearly you're not from this culture, but I think this is true. Ew.

Ricks, you follow the blog right?  Did you read about how they get free heat, but don't use it because it's "wasteful"?  I can see if you just have adults, fine.  But make your kids freeze or walk around the house wrapped up like the kid in A Christmas Story?  Horrid.

Yes, this is true.  They also eat with their right hand and not their left b/c of this.  If I'm not mistaken, I want to say it's Saudi Arabia.  Don't quote me on that, but I'm pretty sure.

This is true.  My dad has visited some of these areas.  One place he went to had hoses instead of sinks.  They'd come out of the bathroom and use the hose like a bidet, but there was no drain on the floor, so the water just pooled on the floor.  After walking through 2 inches of water and finding out what it was there for, my dad's business associate burned his shoes.

I have a friend who's in west Africa now and they do that. She's in the rural part of Guinea. They have latrines though. Non-chemical latrines, so it's basically a hole in the ground.

And I think it's called "family cloth." It might come on a roll (or a fake roll) and you use a piece of the cloth, then wash it, then roll them up again. Sorry, I can't do it. I can do a lot of green/hippie crap, but not that. And imagine if you have guests?!

I'm reading the comments, and a lot of people are saying they keep paper TP for the guests, thank goodness. 

One lady in the comments is talking about reusable pads and her flow getting lighter and shorter and less crampy, and in such a way that it makes it sound like she's saying the flow changes are a direct effect from switching to reusable pads.  Really, lady?
