So, DH and I were discussing what to do and DH says, "Why don't you ask those knot people?" lol, so here I am.
So, DH and I live in CA, but got married in MN where both of our families and most of our friends live. After the wedding, we needed to get rid of our leftover wedding crap, so we brought our stuff and some stuff MIL still had from SSIL's wedding to a wedding consignment shop. At the time DH and I agreed to give whatever money we made from consignment to MIL because some of the stuff was hers, some of our stuff (the pomander balls) she had made for us, and because she made quite a large monetary contribution to the wedding. However, we didn't tell her of this plan at the time.
Now that the check is here though, we both kinda want to keep it. After the holidays and a few other unexpected costs, we could really use the money. We probably need to give her at least some of the money since some of the stuff was hers. We're thinking that if we ask her about it, she would probably just say to keep all of it. I'm not sure exactly what I would ask her though? We don't by any means NEED the money, but it would be nice. So, do we keep all of it, ask her about it, or just send her a check for the entire amount? WWED?
