Poorly thought out baby name

I was just browsing through FB and came across the profile of a girl I went to high school with.  She named her son Brock Lee.

Pretty normal sounding right? Except that his name is essentially Broccoli. Awesome.

Re: Poorly thought out baby name

  • Oh no!!! I know a Mary Christmas, and she married Jack Daniels...NO LIE.

  • That made my night.   I knew someone whose first name was Harley and his middle name was Davidson.  That made me happy too.

Ha ha! That is too funny. I wonder if it was intentional?

I seriously hope no one would intentionally do that.
  • My friend's uncle is named Richard Wacker.  I really hope he goes by Richard.
  • We have a Japanese customer with the last name Fukuman.  I would love to have that last name.

  • There is a professor at my school whose name is Dr. Weiner, pronounced like weener. It's hard not to giggle, but luckily we call her by her first name most of the time so it's not an issue. I figure people will probably call this kid Brock for most of his life, and then when he gets married and sends out invitations with his full name, people will do a double take.

  • Sascha, you can marry Jack Daniels anytime you want to.  Although I wouldn't drive afterwards.

  • My friend named her kid Rode Owen... pronounced like "rodeoin' ". His mom trains barrell horses for a living, so I guess it works.

  • There was a teacher at my high school whose name was Mrs. Crotchfelt.  Her first name was Annette, but she went by Anita.

    Yep.  Anita Crotchfelt.

...perfect example of when NOT to take your husband's last name.
  • See, now this is why you don't name your kid weird, novelty names. Because one day they will end up being discussed on an internet forum.

My high school math teacher's name was Mr. Virgin.  His wife was Mary.

    Mary Virgin.  Virgin, Mary.
  • That's hilarious. Oh that's why I will stick to classic names like Elizabeth and Michael. That kind of made my night though.

  • my fmil's name is Hae. I never know how to say hi to her! its not like I can really say Hey hae!

I also went to school with a Jack Daniels!
  • My H and I have a pretty amusing last name and we get comments about it all the time.   We were paying at a restaurant a while ago and the waiter looked at his card.  My H made a joke about his name and the waiter said he knew exaclty how he felt.  His name was Luke Coffey.  And his middle name was Warren.

    Luke Warren(Warm) Coffey.

I mean really? It's bad enough with a first and last name but to add the middle?  I REALLY hope it was a family name that they really wanted to keep and not some parent trying to make a joke.

  • Not nearly as funny, but I think it's kind of cute that my coworker whose last name is Chipps married a woman with the maiden name Hoye.

    Chipps Hoye... anyone?

  • Doesn't anybody watch anime? They stole the name from a series called Naruto, one of the kids is named Brock Lee and yes, he gets ripped on for it pretty often.

At least I hope they did that on purpose...

  • When I worked at the YMCA, there was a member who was named Ma Boob (NOT spelled like that obviously, but it was pronounced that way).  The front desk people at the time were trying to figure out a situation where they could tell people not to touch "Ma Boob".
