Save the dates+Invites

My colors are black and ivory with red and orange floral arrangements at our wedding to liven things up. I have a dillema, though. The only save the dates I've found that I like don't match my invites! Do they have to match? All the best ones are colorful and funky and I love them. This is the one I love the most http://www.invitationconsultants.com/invitation.aspx?p_invitationitem=CCNYN9139SD69
I think it's super cute but it doesn't match AT ALL. Help!

Re: Save the dates+Invites

  • I don't think they need to match, but they should be a similar level of formality... if that makes sense.  Those are incredibly cute STD's, though.

  • I agree with Kiki.  They only need to match on the level of formality.

  • Those are very cute.

If you love them that much, just get them. I don't think everything has to match.
  • Our save the dates didn't match our invitations.  I hadn't even decided on an invite design when we sent our STDs out 9 months before the wedding.  I don't think they have to match.

  • Ours didn't match either. I found a STD design I liked and decided to go with it. I honestly think most people won't remember the STDs by the time they get the invite.

  • I think those are really cute, and I'd go for them even if they didn't match. Mine matched only in color, but pink is pretty easy to match.

  • Thanks ladies. I'm only concerned because our invites are black and ivory damask, very vintage and I'm not sure if the pink circus-y STD's are going to clash. But I think apple is right, who will even remember them by the time they get the invite :)
  • I always figured that STDs are inherently informal compared to invitations- more like a 'just so you know' card.  I wouldn't even notice if they didn't match or have anything in common if someone sent them to me.

We used our engagement pics on our STDs with text over them.
