Okay need a little help, although my wedding is next October Im trying to work out some of the minor things now. So my dilema is the fact that my FI is southern and italian so its a real interesting combo. He wants to offer options on dinner and Im okay with that its just he wants to do a pasta with shrimp and a smothered chicken option. But if I do that what would be the proper place setting Im not trying to get a planner cause my budget lacks but Im just not sure. Can someone help me out please?

What do you mean place setting?  Usually the meals are buffet style or sit down meals where it is served to your guest.

Do you mean what type of flatware you need to use? That mainly depends on the number of courses, not the course itself, unless it is very specialized.

If you are doing a buffet (which I would recommend doing since you can get a wide variety of food that way and guests can pick and choose exactly what they want... which they may wanna do if they have different preferences) then just lay out the setting with standard salad, food, and appetizer dishes, along with silverware for meat, salad, dessert, etc and a goblet for water and a wineglass for wine (I'm assuming you Italians will have wine, yes? :P )

I don't really know why being both Southern and Italian is "interesting." Half of my firnds are Italians, and I live in the deep south. Neither of the dinner options he suggested is out of the norm, and if you do a seated dinner, I think whichever place settings your venue offers would be fine for either. Or do those as a buffet option.

Ms Mery Mac thank you for your help it was a flatware situation not so much setting, I really do thank you but now the question I pose to you is do I lay out a full flatware setting or do I let the flatware come out along side the plate?
