Do readers get gifts?

I am trying to determine our budget for gifts. We are planning on giving gifts to our parents (1 for each couple), our bridesmaids, groomsmen, flower girl and ring bearer.  Should I also get gifts for our readers? (We have 2).  I feel like we should be that means we'll be getting 20 gifts so just curious about what others think/have done. Thanks!

Re: Do readers get gifts?

  • Yes.  It's typically less than what BMs/GMs get, though.  Our readers were a couple, so we gave them a GC to a nice restaurant in the closest "big" town.  They like to go, but don't often treat themselves, and they seemed to really enjoy it.

  • We didn't do gifts for our readers or gift carriers (Catholic ceremony).  But we did get corsages and bouts for them for the ceremony.

  • We gave gifts to 8 WP members (different for each person), 5 readers (2 readings but 5 readers), both sets of parents, our Pastor, our MC, and two of our musicians.

Our reader gifts were not as generous as Squirrly's though. For three of them (aunts) we gave wine and for the other two (friends) we gave picture frames with pictures of the four of us over the years.
  • We got our readers gifts. We got one a $25 gift card to Starbucks and the other a $100 gift card for him and his wife to go to a nice restaurant (they both helped with the ceremony in some way). We had 2 altar servers (this couples son's) and we gave them each a $25 check.
  • I was just a reader at a wedding this past weekend.  They gave me a beautiful Lenox picture frame at the rehearsal dinner.  And I had a corsage for the wedding.

We gave gifts to our 3 readers at our RD as well, and they were given flowers at the ceremony.

  • Thanks for all the information.  I'm not getting them flowers, but I think getting them smaller gifts, like gift cards, is a great idea and works for our budget :)
