Dress issue

Re: Dress issue

  • I think your dress is gorgeous, too, Moose.

Ugh, my mom just called to ask if I wanted to go look at off-the-rack dresses at David's Bridal.  Not helping!

Tide, you're wise.  I think I just need to chill out- and you're right, the eating better and stuff would probably make me feel a lot better come the "big day".

[QUOTE]  My mom was with me and she loved it, but you know... she's my mom, what's she going to say?

If it were my mom, she'd tell me, in pointed detail, exactly what was wrong with the dress. And with me in the dress. 'Cause that's how she rolls.

ETA I think you got some wonderful advice from the ladies here, especially Tide. Give it a few days.
  • AC - I'll be expecting a page in a few weeks when you're at the "My feet are swollen, my ass is huge, I can't get out of the car with out help, I have to roll into bed like an elephant seal" stage of your pregnancy.
Holy Crap. We survived the first year!

[QUOTE]I sucked it up, I kind of regret that now, but in the end it really is just a dress. I am still pissed that I spent gobs of money on "just a dress" that I hate. :)

I thought you really liked that dress? :( I think you looked stunning
  • And see, it's never as bad as you think :)

FWIW, I loved the dress in theory.  In practice, on me?  Not so much.

  • Moose I loved your dress.  In fact, when you showed it to us I seiously considered becoming a two dress bride.

  • Kiki, maybe you should try it with your hair done and make up to get the whole feel after a few days.

If all else fails, Tide's suggestions were great.

<div>I didn't. We all just had to wear white dresses (tea length or ankle length). Well, one other person had the same dress as me.</div><div>

  • It might be you.... Go to the gym and to LOTS of tricep and REAR delts. This will tighten your arms up like THAT.  Then doll yourself up.. it you are planning a summer wedding get a quick tan, put the right bra on and try again.

IF that doesn't work its the dress.  I would change it.  No girl should settle for a wedding dress they don't feel beautiful in.
  • How was the dress fitting you?  Did you need a lot of alterations?  My MOH HATED her dress at her first fitting, because it made her look fatter than she was.  At the second fitting, when the dress fit properly, she loved it again.

Kiki, I'm really late, but I'd take a deep breath, hot bath, have a glass of wine, put on a little self tanner (I'm only suggesting this because I feel much better about my arms when they're a tiny bit tan... Not at all trying to imply that you need it!), and go back with all of your closest friends/female relatives. I'm sure it looks gorgeous on you, and I'm sure they'll tell you so.

Also, this is random, but what was your hair and makeup like? I tried on my dress as soon as I got home to Minneapolis after a 8-hour car drive, and I looked like crap. I felt funny in it. The next morning, after I'd done my hair and put on makeup, I felt so much more confident in it.
