Ooops, I guess my experience was misleading then.  Both my mom and FMIL asked for my approval before they purchased, sorry.  Now that I think about it, it was a little awkward when they asked, my bad.   I retract my first statement about approval needed.

I agree with you and PPs, I don't think they're that similar. If anyone notices the similarity, they'll probably just think it's nice that your FI's mom is complimenting the style of your dress and may imagine you guys planned it. Glad you're not stressing about it anymore.
