[QUOTE]Squirrly I completely agree with you on it being the same as wearing a dress you don't like.  1 of our 3 readers in our Catholic ceremony wasn't Catholic, and 1 of the 2 people bringing up the gifts wasn't either.  Had they declined for that reason, we would have asked someone else.  KJB- I definitely want to get some for myself.  My plan for the weekend is probably to get a new book.  I only have 1 chapter left in your book, and I'm thinking I'll get a new one.  I wish I read more because then I would just get a kindle.

    I've read 5 or 6 books since I got my Kindle.  I haven't read 5 or 6 books in the past 5 years :)

Yeah I'm thinking if I get myself back into reading I'll tell H to get me a kindle for Valentine's day or something, since my Christmas gift is now a new laptop.  Or just buy myself one as a pity gift for being alone.  I like to use the pity card when it comes in handy.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Where's the usual Friday threads? : You're right, this is a terrible analogy. A more fitting one would be if you had a group of friends: Let's call them Regina, Gretch, Karen, and Cady. You start up an unsolicited conversation with Regina, Gretch, and Karen about how much Cady sucks, is not funny or interesting, and how glad you are that you're not friends with her anymore. Cady hears all of this because she's in the next room over. 5 minutes later you go over there and try to engage her in jokey conversation about feet. Do you think that Cady is more likely to a) give you a hug and talk about feet, or b) want to junkpunch you? And if she picks option b, is it likely because a) she's all those crappy things you said she was, or b) you're acting like a duplicitous, instigating bitch?  Notice in this scenario how Regina, Gretch, and Karen didn't follow you to Cady's room, because like everyone else, they are totally over the drama.

  • Yup, Mery.  Demanding teethwhitening of the reader before the wedding would be a bridezilla thing.  Requiring that they take lessons in public speaking would be a bridezilla thing to do.  Having weekly practice sessions would be as well.  Picking out the reading?  Not so much.

I think a cash reward is most appropriate at this juncture.
