What's for dinner?

Re: What's for dinner?

  • Soup. It was going to be leftover garlic-potato, but that stuff was so gross I can't stand the thought of eating it again. So it looks like split pea with ham.

I hate late nights at the office.
  • Spaghetti, homemade breadsticks, and salad.  H is coming home tonight so I am actually cooking for the first time in a week.
  • Perogies with shredded cheddar on top.
  • I want messican.  So, I'll pass on the EYEtalian.  (Haha)  I am pasta'd out.  I have had way too much pasta this week.  Way too much.  I haven't eaten this much pasta in months.  I think I am going to go to subway and get myself something to eat there, something fresh.

    Stop the maddness.

  • Oven fried chicken, mashed sweet taters, green beans, and salad.

    And apple crisp.

  • I kinda talked about this earlier, but I am making semi-homemade chicken soup.  Which is weird, because I'm vegetarian.  But H is sick and I want to be nice to him :)
  • Pierogis with cheese on top? I don't get it.

Although, I am Polish, and even store bought pierogis I don't get. It was kind of a joke.

<div>Oh okay, lol. Sorry, it's my day off and my brain ceases to function when I'm not at work. We've always done it with cheese on top, although there's usually bacon bits too. What normally goes on them? </div>
  • Everyone around here has some kind of polish and/or ukrainian ties so if I have thanksgiving, easter or christmas dinner with them I am guaranteed to have PEROGIES and cabbage rolls at their house.

I wish my mom would have taken it upon herself to learn how to make em.  She had friends that would have showed her.  I guess we have our own things and traditional foods.  But, I so don't give a shiit about tourtiere.

<div>They're dumplings made out of unleavened dough, stuffed with mashed potatoes, cheese, onions most commonly, but can have a lot of other things in them as well. You boil them til they float, then fry/bake them. That's what wikipedia tells me anyways. I usually get the store ones with just cheddar and mashed potatoes inside, fry up some bacon and then fry them in the bacon grease. It's a delicious way to put on 10lbs every time you eat them.</div>
  • OMG. That sounds like puke (cooking them in bacon grease). I like them just boiled. If we're making them for holiday dinners, we boil them, put them in a roasting dish, and pour a bit of melted butter over them (so they don't stick).

Mandy. I DON'T KNOW WHAT A PEROGIE IS. Wink

<div>I'm sorry, lol. It just makes them taste like bacon to me, and since I put the bacon I fried beforehand on top anyways, there's no much of a difference. I've been cutting it out the last couple of months though, due to my ridiculous weight gain. I wonder how I put on all that weight in the first place...</div>
