Is it a must to send out save the dates? or could i just send out the invitations when the time comes?

STDs are not required by any means.  If you have OOT guests you want to be sure are there, you'll want to give them the heads up, but that can be done via phone or email instead of a formal STD.

I agree with Drama Geek... Another Unless - is if you are having a destination wedding like me.  I did not want to waste money on them, but finally caved because of the destination aspect.

In general, I think STD's are kind of an unnecessary expense.

STDs are not mandatory, but like someone else mentioned.. its nice to give OOT guests a heads up, but you can always do that over the phone

We sent STD because our wedding will be out of town. Otherwise we would have just waited and sent out the invitations.

We e-mailed a few key out of town people with the details, but otherwise just let the invitations do the talking.
