Re: ?

  • why is grandma parenting these kids?  whether they attend or not is up to their mom and dad, NOT their grandmother.

if you want booze, have booze.  if grandma stays home, its her loss.
  • I vote for booze.

  • Why does your grandmother have the ability to prevent someone else's child from attending your wedding?

If your crowd normally drinks, I would recommend providing alcohol.  You can attempt to appease your grandmother and your own concerns with a few things:

1 - ensure you've got taxi service available for those who need it.  Collect the phone numbers of taxi companies, and make sure that your coordinator, if you have one, is armed with that info.  I'd also give copies to your bridal party, DJ, the bartenders, etc. - anybody who could possibly assist.

2 - consider a shuttle.  Perhaps you could contract with a transportation company to shuttle guests to/from the hotel you've blocked rooms with.  Guests who aren't staying there could still take the shuttle and then get a cab home, which would likely be cheaper for them.

Somehow, though, I think your grandmother's concerns are based on something entirely separate from drunk driving issues.  What else is going on?  Does she disapprove of alcohol in general?  Of your FI?  What's the root of her issue?  You might not be able to fix it, sure, but if you at least understood it it would be easier.

Talk to your grandmother. I really think she is crossing a line. How can she prevent others from attending? That is crazy that she even suggested that she will not "allow" others to attend your wedding. If she personally decides not to attend, it is on her. Sounds like she is throwing a temper tantrum.

Unless she is paying, have alcohol.

Edit: Why in the hell did you delete? Thanks for wasting my time.

Basically from what i remember, her grandmother doesn't want her to have alcohol at the wedding, says she will not come if she does.  Gma also said she will not allow her grandchildren, FG and RB, to attend also.  I think there was a bit more, but that's all i remember.

Good idea. Maybe with the exception of those who tell us that they know they'll need to DD?
