I would like some opinions on a little situation I am dealing with, not as the bride, but as MOH to my sister. She and her fiance announced more than a year when they would be wed, July 4, 2012. It is a Wednesday. So we have all had 2 whole years notice of when their intended wedding date is. Problem is, our cousin has become engaged and decided on a wedding date within this 2 year period and has announced HIS intended wedding date which is June 30, 2012......a mere 4 days before my sister's wedding that she has been planning for over a year now. The problem I am concerned about is that I feel that by the other wedding being so close in time will make it extremely difficult for our family as it is hard enough to get time off from work during that holiday time to begin with, let alone for BOTH weddings, the expense guests go through for new outfits, travel and gifts. We will have a few out of town guests who will be invited to both parties so I feel this is distasteful as well to eithe expect that these guests not only take off from work for 5 days minimum to enjoy both weddings but also to pay for accomodations for such a long period of time.....also not to mention the fact that some invitees will now be forced to pick and choose which wedding they will be able to attend.
I am thinking of contacting our cousin and explaining to him that this is disrespectful and shows a huge lack of regard for my sister and all invitees who overlap. Any thoughts? Am I being a MOH-zilla? What would you do?
