I 40 detours?????

oook soo we are going to gatlinburg this weekend, and a rockslide has caused a prob and got I40 closed near the border, anyone have any ideas for a detour, we are coming from raleigh direction????

i would check the specific location of the rock fall. there are numerous exits open after asheville. you can always get off at asheville, route through maggie valley, cherokee, and come across the mountains and make it a scenic trip.

Ugh, good luck.  My in-laws went over the weekend (before the rock slide) and came back after the rock slide, and had to go through Cherokee/Maggie Valley to get back.  It took several extra hours.

yeah I know ugg I'm really bummed about it good thing we decided to leave extra early anyways. I think we are gonna go the maggie valley way maybe I can stop at the casino!

A few weeks ago FI and I drove through Maggie Valley and Cherokee. We stopped at the Casino and it was fun and interesting. I had never been to one before. Just a warning though if you are riding and not driving, I started feeling car sick because of the winding roads. Other then that there are beautiful views!! Hope you have a great time!
