Thinking out loud

So I read this Nora Roberts book (Vision in White) and I got an idea for a bridesmaid gift/bouquet.  What do you all think about a tussy mussy for the girls, with their names engraved in it?  It will be practical for the wedding and if they want to use it in the future it comes with a stand they can use it for other flowers, I will try to attach some images...

Re: Thinking out loud

  • I think it would be cute for bouquets, but if I were to receive one I don't know if I would ever use it again honestly. Actually I know I wouldn't.

  • I had to google what a tussy mussy was.  I think if you want your girls to carry those, that's one thing.  It really doesn't count as a gift though since they're using it for your wedding and probably won't ever use it again.
  • I would probably just toss it in a box, and never touch it again.

  • While I think its cute and I kind of want one I would probably never use it and would think it was kind of a lame gift.
  • LAME.

    Really, really lame.

  • I like things like that in general, but even I would probably never use it again.

  • I would want to want it, but I live in a modern apartment and have modern furniture and it just wouldn't fit anywhere.

If I already had my dream house and had that one room with Queen Anne furniture, I'd probably like it a lot!

  • Thanks for all the help and ideas.  I'm still up in the air as to the whole style and theme of the wedding so I'm just brainstorming a couple of ideas...
  • I would probably say it was nice while thinking to myself, 'what the hell is that?!'

I think a good rule of thumb is to think of gifts that they would like first, not ones that could pull double duty at your wedding. Sometimes it can overlap, like if you got them a fabulous piece of jewelry they want for every day that could also be worn at your wedding (at their choice), but I think BM gifts should be about the person, and not your wedding or their remembrance of being in your wedding.

Also, the tussy mussies would be cute, but I don't know anyone who would get future flower arrangements at home that would fit into it. If they did, I think they would be hard to display without it tipping over.

  • It looks like some kind of musical instrument to me. I wouldn't do it.
