Do registries go on invites?

Do gift registries go on the invitations for the wedding or just the shower invitations? What about those who aren't invited to the showers? Obviously I've never been married before and so don't know the answers to these questions, so please be nice! Embarassed

Re: Do registries go on invites?

  • Nope, just the shower invitations.

  • You can put them on shower invitations.  No gift info on wedding invitations.

And people can either check around the major registry stores to see if you're registered, or they can ask your parents, wedding party, etc.  And you can put it on a web site, and it's okay for the web address to go in the invitations.

  • No. No no no.

The purpose of a shower is to "shower" you with gifts, so registry info is ok. The purpose of your wedding is not gifts. If you have a wedding website, put the info on there, and tell people like your parents/FILs where you're registered so they have answers if people ask them. People might also ask you, at which point obviously it's fine to tell them. People also know the major stores and can search to see if you're registered there. They have lots of ways to figure out where you're registered.
  • Just shower invitations, since that's the point of the shower (gifts).
  • Shower invites ONLY.

It is OK to put registry information on your website, and the website in your invites, however.

  • Not okay to put registry info on wedding invites.
