Does a short veil still get lifted during the ceremony?

I will be wearing a short double layer birdcage veil for my wedding ceremony (hits around my lips).  The ceremony is traditional Catholic.  I have only been to a few weddings and typically, with longer veils, the person giving the bride away will lift the veil up over her head and present her to the groom.  With a short veil, is this still part of the etiquette?  I have short hair and I'm a little nervous if my dad or my groom tries to flip the veil, it will fall out of my hair .  And, then again, I'm afraid if the veil doesn't get lifted, it may be a little awkward to kiss the groom!  Thanks!
