So, do you believe?

Re: So, do you believe?

  • Fire in the Sky scared the shiit out of me when I was little.
I did a report of that movie for my class. Those guys have maintained their story unfailingly. The main character actually suffered PTSD from the experience.

  • Ring's "The Omega Project Revisited" looks at research identifying the "experience prone personality."
People who report abduction experience show common traits of previous abuse, dissociation, and magical ideation.
The debate is whether this makes them psychologicaly vulnerable, or rather makes them likely candidates for contact because they are more open to experience.

  • When I was 13 or so, I was in bed, trying to fall asleep. I had a skylight directly over my bed, and was just looking up, thinking about the day. I noticed what I *thought* was Mars. An orangish colored star, slightly larger and brighter than the other stars.

It then started getting larger, and brighter. Slowly, steadily, it got more orange and grew from the size of a normal star, to roughly the size of a pencil eraser (as seen from the ground, if that makes sense). It suddenly disappeared completely. Then a split second later reappeard in the sky about 3 inches from where it had been, and repeated the glowing/growing, before disappearing and moving again.

I know I was not dreaming because I ended up having to get up to pee after it moved beyond view of my skylight. I asked my science teacher the next day if there were any visible planets, or if there may have been a weather balloon, any explanation. He actually took me seriously, and looked into it- and we never found any "logical" explanation.

I just don't know. I KNOW it was not a plane, planet, etc. But I do NOT know what I saw, which I suppose would make it the quintessential UFO.

I find it fascinating how many astronauts and pilots (both military and civilian) have seen these things, but never put them in formal reports, because it looks 'bad.'

Alien movies scare the bejeesus out of me. Even ET, who I maintain is a creepy little bastard.
  • Betty and Barney Hill were the first to report an abduction in the 1950s. They were ridiculously suburban and sweet.

I could talk about aliens all day, which is kinda sad.

  • Oh ok Jasmnineh! I was unsure what you meant.

And now I want to see Fire in the Sky.

I believe there are some life forms on other planets.  I'd like to think some of them are like the aliens on Dr. Who.
    Does anyone watch Dr. Who?

The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.  (Calvin and Hobbes)

Also, to PP, Doctor Who is awesome.

  • When I was in elementary school I saw the Unsolved Mysteries about aliens, and I was terrified for years that they would come into my bedroom and snatch me in the middle of the night.  I still believe they exist, but that I'm way too boring for them to bother with me.

  • Fire in the Sky is good.  I remember having to go on a serious hunt to rent it and we had to get it on VHS (this was 6 years ago), I think it was filmed in the 80s.  And yes they all passed the polygraph tests.  One guy failed the first time because he was so nervous as he had a warrant out and so his heart rate was all over the place.  He took it again and passed.

    DB Sweeney anyone?  "Toe pick"
