Morning

I would say Good Morning... but I'm hangover.   I had a shiity day yesterday.  We broke our rudder shaft (only aMrsin09 would mostly likely know what that means).   It looks like the boat will be out of commision for at least a day or more.  With tomorrow being a holiday it could be longer.. We will see.  At least I was scheduled off today, so I might not lose any shifts if we can get a new one by tomorrow.

How is everyone else?  Isn't most people's 'friday'?

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

Re: Morning

  • Today is my Friday, hoorah!  And the weekend is going to be great weather so I think we're going to get out on the boat for the first time this season.  Not getting in the water, cause that sh*t is freezing, but it'll be nice to relax and get some sun :)

  • Morning...
Rudder?  You don't need a rudder!  just steer with the sails!  Actually I was taught how to do that, it's really NOT as easy as it seems in concept...

How many cruises did you have lined up over the holiday that need to be cancelled?

  • our water is way too warm this year.  It's a few degrees warmer than normal.  That means there could be coral bleaching and hurricanes LOVE warm water..

  • I had breakfast this morning, and I'm already hungry again. Booo.

I also have to work tomorrow, unfortunately. I'm sure it's going to be really dead around my office.

  • No Friday for me.  I have to work tomorrow.

We got our KitchenAid mixer in the mail yesterday and I think our Dyson is coming today.  I'm a happy camper.  And I'm way, way excited about my podiatrist appointment this afternoon.

And I had another dress fitting last night and we have to take it in a little and they asked if I'd lost weight.  So I'm feeling pretty great about that.

  • Not my Friday, but I wish it was. My department sucks at life this week, and keeps pushing me (I'm president of the department's student life group) to go to meetings, host events, and run recruitment sessions this week, usually all at the last minute.

My favorite: tomorrow I'm supposed to interview a new faculty candidate. How did I find this out? One of the other professors emailed to ask what questions I planned to ask the candidate. I have no earthly idea who this person is, or how I was just supposed to know that the faculty wanted me to spy on him. So now I have to go have a meeting about tomorrow's interview meeting, so I can find out who the interviewee is. Guh. Sorry for the rant, this is getting ridiculous.

remember we have a catamaran.  One rudder is not going to cut it.

We have a ton of sails planned and most are close to being full already.  We had to bring in another boat for our priate sail today.

  • Morning! Yes, it is Friday for me, but not because my school has tomorrow off. Today is going to be SO long - work from 7:30 until 3:30, homeschool from 4:00 until 5:30, choir practice at 6:15, then sing at Maundy Thursday services at 7:30. Then it is home to bake chocolate-chocolate chip cookies for my younger daughter to take to school for her birthday tomorrow (birthday is actually Saturday). Notice there is no time in that schedule for dinner.

Yay! I know you weren't looking forward to that fitting, so I'm glad you wound up getting a boost from it.

It was so great to finally try on the dress without an extra foot of fabric hanging off the bottom.  I could finally walk and sit in it!

I just need to find a really good spanx-type thing for underneath.  I think I want something with an actual stomach panel, more the old-fashioned girdle style than Spanx.  Anyone have recs?

So true.   Although we have dagger boards that go down 8 feet.

  • Oooh Brie, that's always good to hear :)  And exciting about the KitchenAid mixer.  FI and I went over to Macy's just to look at what we might want to register for and I was drooling over those even though I would probably never use it, haha.

  • Brie - We got a kitchen aid mixer for our wedding and I haven't even opened it yet.  I wish we had more counter and storage space in the kitchen..........it's in the basement so I always forget about it.

Yeah, just the other day we were like, "Well, we could live without it, but it WOULD be really nice for holiday baking" and then someone bought it.  Our guest room is slowly getting taken over by stuff off our registries we're waiting to use after the wedding.  It's going to be like we have a whole new house!  I can't wait to get rid of our bent forks, crappy bedding, and mismatched Red Lobster castoff dishes.

While I do not have off tomorrow I still get holiday pay, which is cool.

St Thomas does not have many alcohol rules.   You can drive while drinking a beer, you can walk out of bars/restaurants with a drink in your hand, walk the streets while drinking,  DUI are rarely enforced (there are not any DUI accidents to speak of or even vehicular deaths either).

Yet the only real rule they have is no alcohol is to be sold on Good Friday from 9-4.  Tourist are so annoyed.  I'm surprised no one has called them out on the whole seperation of church and state.

Yeah, H and I have this arguement all the time.  I'm more of a "55%+ of weight below the water line" kinda gal.

ETA: now that I wote that, I'm not positive that DB fits that.  But I do know her righting angle is something absurd like 110% and her bulb alone is 13,000 lbs...

  • Good morning!

It's only my Friday cause I'm taking tomorrow off to hang out with Robert before he goes out of town.

    I'm sleepy.

    Hope today goes by quickly!
  • Good morning!

It's my Friday, so as busy as work is going to be today, I'm ecstatic.  Plus my boss gave the okay for me to take the week after the wedding off, so we're going on a honeymoon after all!  I'm so excited.  But I'll be happier once I'm out of work.
