Out of Towners

Re: Out of Towners

  • By hiring a personal shuttle bus? Paying for everyone's cab? No, you don't "have" to help guests get to the venue and frankly, if I were one such guest I would not expect it of you. BUT, I would be appreciative of any additional info you provided, such as "by the way, once you arrive at the airport, consider one of these options to cover the 70-mile trek to the hotel". Information regarding shuttle fare and schedules, hotels in the area (assuming you have not gotten a room block), cab fare estimate, etc. will go a long ways.

I've traveled to weddings in different states and even went to Mexico this summer for friends tying the knot. My fiance and I made all of our travel arrangments which included getting a shuttle transport for the 90 mile journey to their resort. We never thought the bride and groom should be responsible for that, we knew what was involved.

[QUOTE]Sorry. Disagree. Strongly. OOT guests are already paying for plane tickets, hotels and restaurants. If your venue isn't within walking distance or a taxi ride away, you need to get them there. Everyone came from out of town for my wedding and the last thing I was going to do was make them rent a car (and pay parking) and then drive 45 minutes to get from downtown Philadelphia to my wedding. We hired vans and they were about a third of what we were expecting to pay. OP - a really good limo company out here is Limopatrick. You can look them up at www.limopatrick.com. They do everything from towncars to busses. EDIT: We also put an insert about the vans and included a transportation RSVP card. Almost everyone took us up on it.

Um, no. It's their choice to come. She isn't making them. If it's not feasible to get themselves there, they'll decline.
