Early Gifts..When to send thank you?

We just started receiving gifts from our registry. My bridal shower is Aug 14th and our wedding is Oct 9th. Should I wait to send out our thank you notes until after my shower or should I send them out now? Please help!

Open the gift, make sure nothing is broken, send a TY, don't use the gift until after the wedding. Rinse and repeat.

and keep a list of what you got, when you got it, who it was from and when you sent the thank you. it will help keep you sane when gifts really start rolling in.
