are favors necessary?

Most of my guests are flying to our destination wedding and putting up a lot of money for hotels, rental cars, and vacation time. We really cannot afford another dime, but I am worried people will leave insulted that they didnt' get any kind of favor. Would you even notice if you went to a DW and didn't get anything? Thanks :)

Re: are favors necessary?

  • It doesn't matter to me if it is a DW or an at home one.  I never attend a party expecting to be given a gift.  I wouldn't even notice if you didn't have them.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

  • No. They are not necessary for any type of wedding. In fact, most of them are incredibly lame and get thrown away unless they are edible.
  • Favors aren't necessary at all.  The only ones I like aree the edible kind, and that could  cause all sorts of problems getting food to where ever the DW is.

  • Its not at all necessary and I'm sure most people won't even notice if there aren't any!

  • Favors aren't necessary.  I don't notice when I don't get them at weddings and I usually forget them when I do.  We didn't have any at our wedding.

  • Nope, not necessary at all.  Feed and water your guests well, and skip the favors.

  • I probably wouldn't even notice if I went to wedding without them.

  • 9 out of 10 times, I forget to take the favor home because it's lame.  So, I wouldn't worry about it.
