For those that were curious

Here are the descriptions taken straight from the website.  I am going to get a more detailed description of the beef wellington before the invites go out.

Beef Wellington with sauce Bearnaise

Chicken Breast Calvados- Baked chicken breast topped with apples, roasted cranberries, and pecans.  Finished with an apple brandy sauce

Tortellini Primavera- Cheese tortellini with broccoli, carrots, zucchini, peppers, onion, sun dried tomato, and parmesan cream

Now I am all self-conscious about the primavera and am consulting the menu again :(

I don't think pate qualifies as neutral.  I'm also from the midwest and have some very rural family.

  • Oh hey, I like tortellini better than regular pasta! That sounds good, actually. I didn't mean to make you feel bad. Embarassed Trust me, vegetarians will expect that.

I'll vote "aye" on this, too. Looks like the motion carries.
  • i love beef wellington, and that pasta also sounds great!
  • I think your menu sounds great. Our chicken dish had a cranberry and orange salsa on it (I thought it sounded strange but my husband loved it and apparently all the guests did too). What sounds strange on paper doesnt necessarily taste strange in your mouth. Im glad I picked beef though, that sounds delicious! I like all your options.
  • I would eat six servings of that chicken. It sounds heavenly. You are offering chicken, beef, and something substantial for the vegetarians. That's fine.

Picky eaters do not need to be accounted for. If they don't want to eat your free food, they don't have to.

  • I think your menu is fine.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I don't know why, but think "wellington" is a funny name for beef.

  • Call me fat but I think all the options look delicious and I'd happily stuff either in my face and call it a day.
