Ok, Lucia said she is going to pick hers up... how do you know when it's ready for pick up? At the wedding our officiant took the license and got it signed by everyone and that's the last I saw of anything. Should I be expecting something in the mail??

Unless you preordered and pre-paid for copies, you won't get anything in the mail. Your officiant has 10 days to return it to the register of deeds. At that point you can head there anytime to get certified copies ($10 each).

Yours should be ready by now. We preordered ours, and granted, they sent the wrong ones...but when we returned from our honeymoon, they were waiting for us. I still had to go to the Register of Deeds to pick it up.

I got a phone call last week saying mine was ready to be picked up. I would think yours would be ready by now too!

Yeah, I got it while I was on my honeymoon! We went to the Mecklenburg county one.

I called and they told me ours was in and that I could come and get it anytime.

Yeah unless you asked for it to be mailed you have to go get it. We got ours mailed and it was there when we got back from the honeymoon so yours should definitely be ready.

As for the copies, it's $1 for an uncertified copy, $10 for certified copies. Does it matter which one you get if you want to use the copies to change your name?
