Last Name Order/Usage??

Kind of a weird question, I guess, but...

When referring to the wedding, what order are the names supposed to go in, or which name is used? for instance, if "Smith" is the Bride and "Brown" is the groom...

the Smith-Brown Wedding, or the Brown-Smith Wedding, or just the Smith wedding or the Brown wedding?

The reason I ask is that the hotel reservation is under my last name, the tux rentals take Groom-Bride order, I see it Bride-Groom order for registries, and I just don't know what to type when I compile all the information for our out-of-town guests!

Re: Last Name Order/Usage??

  • I've always heard the "proper" way to do things was Bride-Groom.

  • We only booked the reception venue so far, and they did Bride-Groom. Maybe the tux place wants the groom's name first because it's guy-oriented or something. Or maybe it doesn't matter, and you can word it whichever way sounds best to you.
