What color are your walls?

Re: What color are your walls?

  • We really like bold, dark colours so we'll probably do that again in this house.  Right now, there's only one room painted and it's a dark blue-green (I posted a close sample of the color in Mandy's bedding thread).  We're undecided about whether or not we like it so it's staying for now.

I have red furniture in the main floor living room.  So it'll probably get painted either eggplant or chocolate brown.

  • Fische- I love your house.  Everything looks so modern and homey!

When I bought my apt we left the color of the living room mainly because I hate painting.  It is like a taupe (sp) color.  I really would like to change it but I am to lazy  My BR I love.  It is mocha which sounds boring but it goes with everything.  I have a chocolate brown comforter with blue stripes so that gives it color.  Plus if I want to change bedding Mocha goes with almost everything.

I really love neutral or white walls, I think it gives more opportunity to color with accessories which is a lot easier to change when you get tired of that particular color if its not on the wall. I dont think it has anything to do with lack of personality, I think its just a different design style. I see a lot of spaces on blogs with almost entirely white rooms, and personality is quite prevelent in the furniture, accessories and fabrics that they use throughout to make it a home.
  • FI and I have lived together four years in a rented apartment. Once I found out we were allowed to paint the walls, I did a nice yellow in the living room. The bedroom I did in turquoise. The bathroom and hall on the master side are in a lighter shade of the turquoise. Never got around to doing the second room as it's my craft room and I have too much stuff to move. But I'd do an asparagus green with deep purple and white accents if I stopped being lazy.

Blue in the kitchen.  White backsplash (painted faux brick, ugh, but painting it was better than tearing it out and rebuilding the wall).

Stripes in the guest bedroom.  They took a full 8 hours for FI to tape and me to paint, but I love them so :).

A nice yellow upstairs.  It fades over the "curves' from a bright yellow, to a medium, to a white on the cieling.  no paint lines cause there's no corners.

And a nice warm light brown/grey in the living room.  This was during construction.  We refinished the floors before we moved in.  There's a piece of molding around the ceiling that is 2 shades darker than the wall.

Happy painting.  White is boring :).  We really like the look of the white trim with colored walls, but they get dirty REALLY easily and need wiped down regularly.
  • Hmm next post..."What is your favorite paint color name'. Some of these are hilarious :)
  • We have an apartment, but have the option to paint so long as we paint it back. We did accent walls: cranberry red in the dining room and a camo type green in the living room. Everything else is institution white.

  • the front living room is chocolate brown--love.
the dining room is BRIGHT RED and chocolate brown--hate--will be painting over the bright red.
the kitchen is a medium brown--kinda meh on.
the back living room aka den is white, or beige or whatevs.--obviously meh.
our bedroom is a very pale purple--LOVE.
master bath and guest bath are both white--meh, but very neutral. I can play with these.
    guest BR #1 is green--like
    guest BR #2 is yellow--like
office is white--meh. we'll probably do an accent wall in maroon for our school colors.
laundry room is white--I want to paint this medium purple.
