Because we are so cute? :-) Oh, you mean b/c people talk about vendors on here ALL the time, and all I did was say I loved it and I am assuming I got knocked off b/c she posts on here, and if that is the reason that is BS!

Yeah, I think you should talk to Laud. Jessica wasn't the one talking about it. You as a client were, so I'm not sure why it had to be deleted.

Well I think that they don't want her to obtain some sort of vendor status on the boards. Even though she isn't advertising, it would still be known and she couldn't post here anymore. I wouldn't want that to happen to her!

Just an FYI for everyone since I know of a bunch of us that this might affect among all aspects of the wedding industry. This is posted at the top of the DIY board: Updated Rules From: Knot Annie Date: 2/2/2009 at 10:04 AM We've had issues with Knottie Vendors and we've recently updated our rules to TRY and make it fair for everyone. We can't make everyone happy, but we've done our best. These are the updated rules. TheKnot.com is a place for brides who are in the process of planning their wedding. Any message board member who is affiliated with the wedding industry is not allowed to post about their company affiliation (travel agency, reception hall, florist, makeup artist, etc.) or use any other members for means of advertisement. If they do this, they will be banned from our community. Brides are welcome to post on The Nest after their wedding and must continue to follow our community rules. We understand that some brides work in the wedding industry but want to be a part of the community while planning their own wedding. We certainly want them to utilize all the information other Knotties can offer them on our message boards. However, once any reference is made to their services/company, we must ban their account out of respect for Knotties who do not want to be solicited, as well as respect for vendors who adhere to our Community Rules and do not post on the boards. We want everyone to have full use of our site, but brides must make a choice to utilize the site either as a Knottie or a vendor and follow the community rules in that manner. Once they decide to mention their business affiliation, they have chosen to violate our community rules and therefore have chosen not to be a part of our community in the future. Links in Signatures- What’s Allowed: Your Bio For Sale (only items from your wedding) Engagement/wedding/TTD pics, etc. Personal blogs What’s Not: Etsy stores Any wedding-related items that you are selling that are not leftover from your wedding Links to Google pages/site that include Etsy or Knotties-for-Hire, etc. Design sites (invitations, programs, etc.) Discounted or free wedding services for members on The Knot (photo shoots, monograms, etc.) Anything other profit-generating services (wedding-related or not) This type of content cannot be posted on The Knot in any format, including signatures, board posts, or bios. Also- Please remember you are responsible for the material you submit to The Knot, including taste, reliability, originality and copyright. Author(s) may be held legally responsible for copyright infringement, defamation or invasion of privacy, as well as any damages arising out of actions resulting from materials submitted by you and posted by The Knot. You are responsible for ensuring that your message or posting does not violate any extant copyrights. Yeah, that is nice and all but the point is that I, CAT, posted the comment, not Jessica. IF she gets in trouble for this that is crap! What do they think, she lured me to post things about her. PLEASE! Honestly, I don't give a crap about the long list of rules. It was handled wrong. I don't get annoyed very often, but this is stupid.

Just want to clear this up that I am NOT a moderator and I posted the long list of rules because I too was curious why the post was deleted. I get that you posted it and not her, so I'm wondering how the rules apply as well? Maybe Laud can clear this up for all of us so we know.

Thank you, bcb, for posting the text from the library. I sort of did it all in a rush before I headed out to lunch. Here's the gist of the matter: Smart knotties who happen to also be wedding vendors (like the one who shall not be named) never mention a word about their jobs. Because of this, they're allowed to enjoy these boards, just like any other happy bride. When someone calls attention to the fact that they're also vendors - even though it's through no fault of their own - I have to step in. I hate it, but that's my job.Cathy, whether or not you give a flip about the rules, we all agree to abide by them when we sign up to post on here. If you had just mentioned her by her company name & not linked it to the fact that she's also a bride, I would have never removed it. Sorry, but I'm just doing my job.
  • edited December 2011
I understand you are doing your job, and I now know that i can't say her name. Do I need to have her resend me this pic without the signature on it? And it isn't about not giving a "flip" about the rules, it was just dumb for people getting called out when she didn't even know I was posting.

Oh dear- well this is clearly a situation that the rules weren't made for (Jessica wasn't trying to drum up business and Cathy- we wanted to see your cute pics anyway so what's the harm?) Hopefully they'll make an exception.

PS Does it say in those rules that brides who are married have to "move on" to The Nest or did I read that wrong?

To be more specific, this is why. The violation is inbeing a vendor & a knottie. It doesn't matter how that information comes to light:"However, once any reference is made to their services/company, we must ban their account out of respect for Knotties who do not want to be solicited, as well as respect for vendors who adhere to our Community Rules and do not post on the boards."Typically, if it was done unknowingly, a warning is given. After that, it's a permanent ban.

  • edited December 2011
I never said that you wasted her warning. At this point, the best thing we can all do is to try to learn from this refresher of the rules & let me & the person in question work this out to the best of our abilities. Yes, technically, you can eff someone over by saying "knottie XYZ did such a great job on my customized ribbons!" Anytime "knottie XYZ" gets associated w/ a wedding-related business, it's dangerous ground. Here's examples of what's safe & what's not:Good: "I just got my custom photo guest book from Joan Smith Designs & I can't believe how beautiful it is! I highly recommend her."Bad: "I just got my custom photo guest book from laudanum1 (Joan Smith Designs). I can't believe how beutiful it is! I highly recommend her."FYI: this also goes for your sister's/cousin's/dad's/BFF's business. If you praise Company XYZ, it's all good. Just don't praise Company XYZ & mention that your dad also owns it ;)
