If you didnt bring rings on your honeymoon..

what did you do? Did you get a fake one to wear? I would hate to go ringless, but after reading some people's stories, Id be slightly worried to bring mine too. I was looking to see if I could find something realistic, like those diamonique rings, that looks like mine to bring instead. Problem is all the fake stuff either looks very fake or it huge - like 3 ct and up. I dont want something that big either. Any idea where to get a nice looking replica of around a 1.5 ct solitare?

I just wore my wedding band and left the engagement ring at home. Try Nordstroms--they have some nice thin bands that you may not mind wearing.

We brought our real ones and fake ones too.  Wore real ones for going out, I got a cheap tungsten one I bought and didn't care if I lost it (wore in ocean, pool, etc).  We found my DW a really nice fake one in a shop in cape may.  I swear it looks real and it's a huge rock.  She wore it to south beach on vacation and had everyone fooled.

My friend got an engagement ring/wedding ring set at Claire's that she used for her honeymoon. I haven't checked them out yet myself, but she has a size 3.5 finger so I imagine the size couldn't have been too big and gaudy if she was able to wear it without looking ridiculous.

Now that I'm married, I usually don't bring my engagement ring on vacation because I don't want to worry about it getting sandy or left behind in a hotel room (I usually take it off as soon as I come home because I don't find it super comfortable to wear a diamond, but have places to put it at home so I remember where it is), and I figure I'm still signaling my love and devotion for all the world to see as long as I have my wedding band on.

To be honest, I'm not sure that I've ever understood the point of fake engagement rings.  Why not just leave it at home if you don't want to lose/damage it?  Why do you need a fake one to replace it for that week or so?

If I were going to get a fake ring I'd totally go for a huge one, just to be obnoxious.

I agree w/ uppereast. With that said, I wore my wedding band on the honeymoon and left my engagement ring at home. I understand that a ring is a physical sign of your marriage, but I don't need a piece of jewelry w/ me 24/7 to prove to the world that I'm married.

Early on in the planning stage I said I wasn't going to bring mine on our honeymoon, but now that we're close my feeling is- that's why we pay for the insurance every year, I'm bringing it dammit.

I agree with Sherri, and we pay for insurance on two engagement rings. We did not wear them on the beach this summer down the shore. I'd have no problem just locking them in the safe in the hotel room during the honeymoon, and if they get stolen from there than my insurance company can write me a check!

I was at Nordstrom's yesterday (the one in Menlo) and they had a lot of pretty fake bands if you wanted to go that route.

I didn't bring my e-ring, only my band mainly because we were going away 10 days and I don't wear jewelry at the beach anyway. The band, I just wore out to dinner.
I also don't see the need of a fake ring, just do what is comfortable to you.

I won't be wearing my e-ring or wedding band on the honeymoon either.  I went on etsy and found a white gold band with detailing on it so it's still something I enjoy wearing.  I highly recommend seeing if you find something on there.  My stand-in ring was $90 including shipping and I love it!  I'm a social worker so I have been wearing my stand-in ring more often lately when I travel to the outer boroughs for work and I feel better knowing that I'm not attracting attention to my jewelry and that my family heirlooms are safely at home.

I wore a fake ring and band from nordstrom that actually looks exactly like my ring set.  My stone is a family heirloom so insurance or not, my ring is not replaceable (or at least the stone isnt...it is over 100 years old).

Thanks for all the great ideas! My ring is fully insured, but it still has a lot of sentimental value to it, so I think a fake may be the way to go for me (I love wearing my e-ring so Id hate to not wear one at all). I liked the idea to get a huge one for the heck of it since its fake haha

I went away this summer to Aruba and St. Thomas and wore my engagement ring the whole time.  When I went in the water I was just aware of the ring and made a fist.  Yes, it got dirty but took I took it to get cleaned as soon as I got home.  I always feel that my finger is the safest place for my ring!

I just lost my promise gold ring in Los Cabos in the ocean, the waves were so rough that I did not even noticed until later, seriously considering leaving the rings before heading to europe for the honeymoon!

I am planning to leave my engagement ring at home and have with me only my wedding band on the honeymoon.
I don't really care about carrying my engagement ring with me everywhere.  I guess I feel this way because of my South American culture.

Hi....when I got married the first time, we actually bought "plain" bands as well, that were simply gold, and we wore those on the beach and in the pool etc......second time around I wouldnt do that I don't think...simply because I wouldnt spend the money for the extra rings and stuff.....hsn (home shopping network) has nice rings that are not diamonds..I have had a few, and get rave reviews about them!
