I completely understand this! It's not that I don't feel comfortable with them or anything. I'm just a worrier I guess.

i totally understand. It's probably because of the money and just that you wouldn't spend this much money on any other event, so it makes you extra cautious.

I agree, it's definitely the money.

Everything costs a lot of money and you want to be sure you're making the right decision. I don't blame you. I am not one to just plunk down cash either. I will say - and this is cheesy, but true - the vendors I chose just felt right. They were the only ones I didn't have much anxiety about. I think you'll know and make the right decisions. I understand, though. Best of luck.

As long as you're doing your research and you have a contract, you have nothing to worry about. Keep a notebook of all your contracts and receipts - you'll never appreciate good documentation until you plan your own wedding. SAVE your money though, because if you think deposits are bad, wait for final payments!

I think for me it isn't just the money.  The money is a huge deal, but you are also in a way committing to these people that you don't really know.  It's one of the biggest days of your life and you are intrusting it to people who you hope will do a good job.

Alyson, I think you're right as well. I'm getting ready to pay the deposit for Rev. Skip and FI is worried because they don't do a contract. He is like what if they don't show up? I mean the officiant is pretty important! Did that bother you that they don't have a contract? Also, what if something happens and we lose all our deposits but I could go on and on forever with what-ifs!

It's totally the money! I have never spent so much money in my life other than buying a car and going to school, but that is totally different! Don't feel pressured to give a vendor a deposit the day you meet with them. It is totally okay to take their info and go home and sleep on it or visit another vendor for comparisons. I did that a few times with some of my vendors just because I worry alot too. You are not alone!

Kaitlyn, I felt very comfortable with Rev. Skip.  He is highly recommended with great reviews.  The deposit is only $100 or $150 and the totally was only $400 I think.  So I wasn't as concerned about it.  His wife has been in contact with us since we put the deposit down.  We had a phone meeting with Rev. Skip as well.  We asked him what happens if something happens to him that day, etc.  He told us that they have a great group of people who work for/ with them in the surrounding areas that would step in if something happened.  Not that anyone wishes for it.  He told us that happened last year.  One of the officiants had a death in the family or something like that. So rev. Skip and another officiant were able to fill in.So I think that no matter what, Rev Skip will make sure the wedding goes off without a problem.
