Invite help please...long

I'm going to be ordering invite supplies from cardsandpockets soon since they have 25% off right now. I'm just having a hard time figuring out which color to get for envelopes. I want to do a folded card with a ribbon around it (the ribbon will kind of take the place of the pocketfold...the inspiration pic below is of Katherine's invites)Our colors are red, black and white. I want black cards. Will black envelopes be too much black or should I go with white? I don't like the red that cardsandpockets has. TIA

i don't know if the black would be too much, but would you be able to see the black through the white envelopes?that would bother me for some reason.

That's a good point.Another concern about black envelopes is addressing them. I would either have to do labels or address them in silver...I'm not sure how I feel about that :-/ Has anyone used white C&P envelopes?

I personally LOVE when people use silver writing on black envelopes - JMO!

IDK if this will help but I'm doing black envelopes and addressing them with white ink. My colors are black, white, and pink. I think it'll look GREAT! Good luck!

I would suggest using black with silver or white writing, although this will be time consuming to do. Or use silver envelopes, if you decide thats going to be your accent. Also, you could do white/cream outer envelopes and colored inner envelopes if you decided to go that route. Also, I think [url]www.envelopemall.com [/url] is the cheapest for envelopes. Check them out.

Oh, also (sorry for so many separate posts) envelope mall has bulk cardstock which looks like it may be cheaper or about the same price as cardsandpockets with the discount. So you should check that out so you don't feel rushed by the discount. Especially if you aren't doing pocketfolds, but could just make the cards yourself. I bought my black pocketfolds from them and got the white envelopes. Everything worked out fine, you couldn't see black through the envelope. I wouldn't worry too much about the color of the envelope, that's the first thing people rip into and throw away!

I did chocolate brown envelopes with gold writing. I think black with silver would stand out and look really classy. Honestly, it is not as time consuming as you would think. I invited 265 guests and addressed about 150 envelopes. It only took me a few hours. Maybe because I am used to writing that much, being a teacher and grading papers constantly. They looked great though. I say go for black and silver - be different!

Thanks for all the info Meredith. I looked on envelopemall last night but I didn't come across the jupiter red. I love it! I think I'll probably order the jupiter red envelopes and a pack of the cardstock. I'll use it to back the invitations. From what I've found it's actually cheaper to get the folded cards from c&p than to buy the cardstock. Once you get up around 100lb cardstock it ends up costing about $25 or more. c&p is $28 before the discount. Plus it will save me a good amount of time to not have to trim and fold all of the cards myself.

We did brown invites/envelopes inside an off-white outer envelope.  I used silver to write on the brown.  Here's a pic (I'm being lazy about updating the planning bio)[img]http://i35.tinypic.com/2i27ija.jpg[/img]
