Venue Suggestions Please

Hi everyone -  I apologize if there is a similar thread asking this.  I am new to the board and ran some searches but didn't see anything quite on point.

My fiance and I would like to get married in the Fall of 2012 on a Sunday afternoon. We're looking at about 150-170 people and were hoping to find a place that has a good amount of food at the cocktail hour. We are also looking for a venue that does not look like a typical banquet hall.

Anyway, we really, really like the Stonehouse at Stirling Ridge, the Liberty House and the Lake Valhalla Club.  We're a little worried about the amount of food the SH and LH provide at the cocktail hour and while we LOVE the Lake Valhalla Club, we're worried that if it rains the space is going to be very cramped.  Does anyone have any suggestions on any other venues in New Jersey/New York that are similar to these places and/or sound like something that could fit our above wish list?

Much appreciated.

Thanks!

Check out Il Tulipano.  Well known for the quality of food and and the quanity.   You get the entire place to yourself, including the outdoor piazza.  The cocktial hour had so much stuff on it that our guests were coming up to us and saying "if the reception ended here it would of been enough!"

Seasons has an insane amount of food at cocktail hour and doesn't look like typical wedding venues.  For a Sunday next fall we were quoted either $90 or $100 per person plus taxes and gratuity and I believe that was for their larger ballroom.  (Sorry I don't have my papers with me!)

Ditto Il Tulipano and Seasons... I will also say the most elaborate cocktail hour that I've ever been to was at the Venetian.  It's a pricey/OTT venue but for a day time wedding you may score big.  Altho, both Seasons and Venetian look like your typical jazzed up ballrooms.

Lake Valhalla may be a little cramped for 150 - 175 - beautiful place, had our engagement party there.  Try Waterside (just north of libery house in north bergen on water) you should be OK with 150 people (2nd floor cocktail hr, 3rd floor for reception) although If you are closer to 175, it may be tight --- i would suggest using their oval tables over the round tables and youshould be ok

I am getting married at the Stone House - try asking them to add another station (without increasing the price) to your cocktail hour, and you will have plenty of food.  They did that for us :)  You wouldn't want more food than that in their cocktail hour space, or it would feel too cramped anyway.

I also looked at the Palace at Somerset Park.  It is more traditional, but not a typical NJ venue.  They give you A TON of food, so if that is your main concern, definitely check out the Palace.  It is reasonably priced too ($120 to $140 pp for a Sunday, depending on the month).
