Falco's Catering and The Berkeley Hotel (Asbury Park)

Hi everyone,

I'm looking at the Berkeley Hotel in Asbury Park for my wedding and reception, and I would like to use Falco's Catering in the area. I got a menu with prices from Falco's that lists the catering per person price (for a Grand Buffet) at $60.

But I've googled Berkeley Hotel wedding price and the only price I've read is $200+ pp! Are there hidden charges or something? Has anyone used Falco's Catering or had their wedding/reception at the Berkeley Hotel? Any stories/ideas/input would be welcome.

  • Also, does anyone know the site rental fee prices for the Berkeley Hotel? I know it depends on the season--I'm planning on getting married in October/November 2013.

I looked there last summer for an Fri in Aug/12 ... if I remember correctly around $6000-$7000 just for the space.. it took me numerous phone calls and few emails just to get a call back from their event coordinator.. So in the end I stopped bothering with them..
  • Thanks. I'm started to reconsider about the Berkeley. It's taken a lot of research to get this information (for some reason) but it sounds too expensive for my budget and sounds like their event coordinator is a hassle to deal with.

  •  When I first started looking for venues, we thought the Berekley would be perfect but I couldn't get a call back after nearly a month of trying. Be careful, girl.

Are you looking for a venue near or in the beach?
  • Not as much... I wanted the Berkeley more for their gorgeous ballrooms. I do want a venue with a view though.
  • I'm getting married at the Berkley and I'm having Falco's cater my wedding. The room cost alone for the Berkeley is around $6500. It gets pricey bringing vendors in but you can defiantly find ways to cut cost. I would still consider the Berkeley if you had your heart set on it. The head of planning their is an absolute sweetheart. It was hard at first to get in touch w her but once I did everyone's going very well so far!
  • Thanks for the encouraging message. :) I do have a limited budget but I'm planning on doing all the invitations/placecards myself and my mom does flowers so hopefully we'll save some money and still be able to have it at my dream venue!
  • I am getting married at the Berkely in September of 2013 and I paid $3500 for the rental fee for all three rooms.

I will be using Falco's catering.  I went to a tasting with them last night and could not have been more impressed.  Everything was amazing.  The food quality, food portion, presentation, variety, service.  I am having a sit down dinner, so I am unsure of the pricing for buffet, but the package I saw were $78 or $98 per head, so buffet may even be less.  I would highly recommend Falco's.

    Good luck

  • Wondering, has anyone actually stayed at the hotel?  I just said upwards of 100 bad reviews and the location received one star on yelp.  Between the negative comments about the hotel plus the negative feedback about the response from Falco's, is it still worth it?  The ballrooms are to die for! Would anyone else recommend anything on the shore line that comes even close (not including cheesy floral prints in the ballrooms)?
  • I have stayed at the hotel, but to be fair i didn't deal with check in as i was a guest of a guest. The rooms when i stayed had JUST been renovated but it was a few years ago. I looked there for our reception but no one was there when we went (even tho we called ahead). I would love it if it fit our budget, which i am still not sure of yet (I'm have serious planning jitters!) but just as an aside-the informations y'all give here is awesome!
