HELP NEEDED on Photographer & DJ

Hey all- I already have my church and reception booked for Sept 2010. How far in advance should I be booking the Photographer and DJ? I am starting to do my research now but not sure how quickly I should move on it? Any suggestions on a photographer and DJ? I am kinda of at a loss on this one? I dont want to spend a ton but I want a good vendor. HELP! I am getting married at a church and reception at the Primavera!

Its never too early to start looking.  I am getting married August 13, 2010 and I booked my photographer in February and my DJ this past month.  I am going with mirkaphotographics.com for my photographer.  She did my epics as well.

i booked my photo & dj about 21 months out so its definitely not too early.

I think your timing is fine, esp for a September wedding, since that is a very popular month.  If you have the time to look now, you may as well book them now. I used David Lau for photos and was incredibly happy the day of the wedding and with my proofs.  I used Tara from Elite entertainment for my DJ, she was great!

I dont really know my budget for it. If I say 4,000-5,000 is that alot me enough to get a decent package or am I going to have to go up a few dollars ha! What about a videographer?

I booked both my photographer and DJ just over a year out, so you definetely should start looking.  You may find that some are booked already for your date, since September is a popular month.I am using Bill from Stellaview for photography...he has been great to work with so far.Our DJ is Premier Entertainment in East Rutherford...I have seen them before and they are always great, and Ralph has been a pleasure to work with.

I think your budget or video and photo is fine. I am using Lifetyme photo and video. We are spending $4200 for both. We have a lot included in our package. We also haggled a lot too for that price.

Here are the vendors I have booked: Photography - Elisabeth Millay DJ - Elite Sound Entertainment (Saddlebrook) Videography - Rob Adams Productions (Red Bank) They have all been great to work with so far, I highly recommend giving them a call to set up a consultation.

Bec-Congrats on booking your venue...Premavera is great!!  Def. book you photog. ASAP bc they do book up quickly...its never to early to book anything!  Plus it feels great once you have all your vendors settled

We used Erica Lyn and are so pleased.  Her prices are great and her work is fantastic.Book as soon as you think you have the right vendors.  You may also be able to lock in 2009 prices. Lisa Beth

We LOVED our dj and photographer.  We used Magic Moments in Garfield as our dj and Anne Constance as our photographer.  Both are phenomonal!

JF Photography in Cranford gives a discount to Primavera brides, Im surprised Steve didnt recommend them and Dash of Class DJ- they work hand in hand with Primavera and are excellent!

our DJ is $1095 - for a DJ and MC (no giveaways ie hats, leis, sunglasses, etc)

Reilly- Steve did recommend: dash of class and JF Photo and JPaul Photo I am in the process of checking them all out now. I just didnt know if anyone had any others! Do you happen to know how much JF and Dash of class runs??

Rebecca- Hey, thats great that you picked Primavera, nice place!  All my co-worker friends used Primavera and rave about it.  Dates just didnt work for us, but Steve is stellar.  I did meet with JF and was very impressed and we loved the lady in office who slashed the price and threw in engagement photos and extras for about 3K.  I booked her because they are pretty booked and only had one left on my day.  She also discounts to certain venues like Primavera, Mayfair Farms, etc.  I didnt do the video, we are on the fence about it because everyone I know watches it once and never again.  The video there runs 1700.  We are meeting with Dash of Class this week and I have had so many friends use them too that its a done deal.. They apparently come to your church and tape your vows and as you walk into to your venue replay your values- its really emotional to see, as you just lived it.  I want quality entertainment too!
