Wedding traditions?

I could have sworn that I heard that not only should the bride and groom not see each other the day of the wedding, but they shouldn't really talk or have any contact.  Is this so or am I wrong?

i thought it was no visual and no talking...but a hand-written note or letter (and now that it's modern times i guess a text message) is ok......but i'm probably wrong.

I think people just make all this up as they go along and then call it "tradition."Do what YOU want to do. Personally, I think it's all B.S.

We texted twice bc DH had a moment of panic and wanted our dance instructors cell number to make sure he knew the moves! and for something else...then we did the first look anyways so we could get pictures out of the way before hand.

Our photographer told us the tradition of not seeing each other before hand dates back to arranged marriages. They didn't want the groom to see the bride and then bolt because she was hideous. After I heard that, I threw out the notion of it being bad luck.
