Update on Cake Tasting

Sorry I did not post this sooner. I went for my cake tasting at Palermos Bakery. I am getting married in November at Bridgewater Manor.  If your cake at Palermos is part of the wedding package for you venue you can view the designs on line - go to their website and click on wholesale then wedding packages. There are about 20 designs to choose from. If you choose to use fondant or add to the cake you just have to pay the difference. I was so impressed. They were so nice and the cake was so good. You can choose vanilla or chocolate cake or a combo of both any filing or combo of filings. They were helpful and offered many suggestions.  Some of the filings they had were:Cannoli, French Creme, French Creme with fresh strawberries, strawberry filling, hazelnut, rasberry and hazelnut, chocolate fudge, rasberry mousse, chocolate mouse and cookies and cream. We chose a combo of vanilla and chocolate cake with french cream and chocolate mousse filing. We did not pick strawberries because FMIL is highly allergic. They only do cake tastings on Saturdays and the appointments tend to fill up.For those that don't have cakes as part of your wedding package their other cakes are beautiful! Hope this helps :)

Glad to hear your review!  I need to schedule a tasting soon.  Were you able to find a design you liked? Did you ask if you could do different layers different flavors?

Mmmmm....sounds good.  I can't wait to do my cake tasting this time next year.  Can you tell me if the Cannoli filling is an up charge or not?  I really want Cannoli filling.

That's so good to hear. My wedding is at the Graycliff and Palermos is doing our cake. I actually just brought in a "doctored up" picture of the cake design I wanted and gave it to them. I haven't done a tasting though.  Should I?  We went with the staple - vanilla cake w/ strawberry and custard filling.  Finally, something where you can have your cake and eat it too.

mmmm cannoli filling.  i had this and it was freakin' awesome.  that must suck for your FMIL to be allergic to strawberries.

I also got married at Graycliff and had the cake from Palmero's - they were excellent to work with -- no cannoli is not extra for the poster who asked. And for the person who asked about different fillings for different layers -- yes you can -- we did 2 layers of chocolate mousse and 2 of hazelnut. They recommend you do not do more than 2 different fillings otherwise it's overkill.

Yes you can do multiple filings. No you did not have to pay extra for cannoli. I would go for the tasting it was fun and FI enjoyed it. Also you might change your mind regarding the filings. I was surprised I love chocolate and I really wanted chocolate fudge filing but it was really sweet so I am glad I tasted it.

Sorry did not answer this question - yes I did find a design we liked. They told us to look at the designs before we went so we had a better idea. We are still debating whether to pay extra to change the ribbon on the cake from satin to fondant. Also if you see a cake you like on the web site you can change the colors to fit your color scheme.

We go for our tasting at Palermo's this Saturday! wooHOO On the website, there are bunches of cakes.  You mentioned we can only choose from ~20 cakes online - which ones are those?

There's a link on there something that says "Wholesale" I believe. Those are the cakes you can choose from if your venue has the cake included. Let me find the link... http://www.palermobakery.com/wholesale_cakes_main.asp
