Post wedding party?

Our wedding ends early. It ends at 5 pm. We arent doing a hotel block because we figured most people would stay home. People keep asking us if we are going to have a party or doing anything after the wedding. I do want to do that since we arent having a bach/bachelorette party. Where can we go if the wedding is in Clifton? I don't want to do any clubs or anything like that but something fun and have a few drins for a couple of hours.

i dont think its something you need to plan or stress about or pay for... i'll just throw that out there.  i've been to "early" weddings where the BP or best man/MOH throws a little after-party at the hotel bar or right around the hotel.  doesn't mean they have to pay, just throw out an idea and directions.  does your hotel have a bar?  or its just a hotel and not really a hang out place?

That's the thing we didn't book a hotel because we didn't have enough people staying overnight. I don't think we would have to pay for anything but we do have to make a plan. We need to let everyone know whether or not we are doing anything so they know if they should just go home or not.

Our venue is the valley regency. Yes FI and I plan on spending the night together at a hotel. We haven't decided where. Do you think its to late to do a hotel block. I think you usually need like 10 rooms which we don't have.

You might be surprised. We only have a few OOT people, but we have 30 rooms booked already. (Granted, it's NYE, but FI and I usually stay at the hotel even though we're local because we don't want to drive.) I've never been to a day wedding though so maybe it'd be different and we'd just get a cab.I say pick the hotel you're going to stay in and if people ask, say you're going there afterward. Then you could hang out if people want to but won't have to drive. I think you're too close (timewise) to set up a block anyway...but I guess it couldn't hurt to see and then spread the word.

The only thing I can think of in Clifton off the top of my head is Shannon Rose

One of my best friends got married at the Valley Regency, and we went to the bar at the OOT hotel (the Fairfield Crowne Plaza) afterwards. It was kind of a random hotel bar so it was very much bring-your-own-fun, but these kinds of things are usually really fun regardless of venue because everyone's already tipsy and in a celebratory mood. I wouldn't worry about the venue too much.

If you're up for traveling to Montclair, Diva Lounge is fun.  Good drinks and nice atmosphere.

Late to this but figure out the hotel you two are staying at.  Then just tell people you will be at that hotel's bar.  They can just go to the bar without staying at the hotel or they might decide they want to stay.  You can probably still get a block somewhere and it won't matter if the rooms aren't all taken since you do not pay for the block.

Houlihans in fairfield has a great bar, but not cluby at all. I worked there and I saw many wedding after parties because It wasn't a rowdy place but had an awesome atmosphere foods and drinks.

i would just go to a chain restaurant with a bar and have your dj make an announcment at the ned of your reception.  you may also want to have directions from your venue to the restaurant for those you are not familiar with the area.

Alexus steakhouse is right down the street from  the Valley Regency.
