Boudoir Photography

I've always been curious but what's the point of it?  I imagine it won't be hanging on my wall.  Is it a hyped up trend or just fun?  I can't see my fiance being impressed by it.  He gets me live every day.  LOL.

It is a trend, I don't know that it is hyped up but it certainly seems much more popular than I would have guessed.  I think you typically get an album with the pictures? I wouldn't want to hang those pictures on a wall.  I didn't do it because I didn't think my husband would be all that excited by it (and I actually asked him at one point in case he would be, and he was very "eh, sounds kind of weird").  Also, I don't know how I felt about it as a keepsake.  Ten/twenty/thirty years from now when I don't look as good, I don't know that I want him to be able to look back and compare and see how things have changed for the worse!

LOL- your exact concerns are exactly why I didn't do them. I feel like I'd have this book of awesome pictures of myself that I would be hiding out of fear of total humiliation. I'm pretty conservative by nature though, so I would NOT be comfortable having pictures like that of myself around (too many opportunities for getting in the wrong hands). I think for some of the more confident girls though, it sort of serves as a keepsake and tribute to themselves.

I think I'd only do it if I lost a lot of weight and toned up a lot. I would do it as a reward for myself, and as a momento of how good I looked after working so hard to get fit. Not everyone does it to be trendy, of course, but I get the feeling that a lot of people do it because it's something fashionable and new. I remember when only about one person on these message boards had them done, then suddenly it seemed like EVERYONE was rushing to go out and get them. Same with candy buffets, "I Do" cake table letters, Trash the Dress photoshoots, etc. Take a look on the Nest and the Bump, too. People paint their homes certain colors, decorate their babies' nurseries with trendy themes, give their kids trendy names, etc. Just how there's probably about a dozen Jennifers here, in about 20-25 years there's going to be a ton of Madisons and Emmas and Isabellas, too.

I think a lot of our clients do it for themselves as much as they do it for their FI/DH.  It's often a confidence thing or a reward...  and feeling like you rocked the session & look great in the photos can project into the real world.  I've talked to some girls that feel like their FI has everything, so it's nice to give them a piece of themselves (and this is certainly more personal and intimate).  It depends on the girl, it depends on the guy.Everybody has their own reasons for a boudoir session.

yea, they would make me nervous - not sure if this would be something I would do......like tiff said, you never know who's hand they may get into -- I was looking at the website of the three bpic photographers that were posted yesterday, and scary enough I stumbled upon a girl I was best friends with years ago and the picture of her that were posted I know I wouldn't want random strangers looking at....

Well if anybody wanted to do boudoir photos but didn't want them online - all you have to do is tell the photographer.  I am going to assume that most (if not all) photographers that get mentioned here will respect a woman's privacy.   Our contract has a check box addressing that issue...  I wouldn't want to jeopardize somebody's career or make them uncomfortable. That said, it's a session for a certain type of person.  And it's really a session about confidence.  Because I think confidence is the sexiest thing a woman can wear.

Hey if people want it and want to pay for it then more power to them.  Kind of reminds me of when I was in elementary school and everyone ran out to do glamour shots.

LOL to "Glamour Shots." I think trends are typical with most things wedding related. I think we all get ideas from each other and things start to become "must haves."

I won't personally do it, but I do think they are nice.  FI would want pics with a little less showing ~ so the money wouldn't be worth it for us ;)

I read a post once on a scrapbooking site about boudoir photos.  It was about a lady who had a picture taken of her in her jeans and her hands over her chest.  She only had the one picture that she gave to her husband but all the years (and probably kids later) she said how proud she was of it and how much her husband liked it.  I think when its understated like that it can be a beautiful thing to do.  It seemed such a conservative way to do it compared to the pictures I see now.  In the end I think if people are comfortable and they want to do it then they should but I would be a little nervous doing it.  I may take a private photo just for my FI to see and thats all.

It's often a confidence thing or a reward... and feeling like you rocked the session & look great in the photos can project into the real world. exactly!I did them for me and also to show syn hey look at your sexy fiance..wife to be!  I didnt think i had it in me to be "sexy" i am a smiley girl and it was nice to do something very different and have it come out looking so nice.  i honestly think all ladies should do it at least once...it makes you love the body you are in..and even the airbrushed pics make you realize that those ladies you admire in magazines prob have some rolls and imperfections too..lol

I would love to do them but would be too nervous that someone would accidentally find them.  Maybe a 1 year anniversary present.

i'm chuckling over how paranoid a lot fo you are over someone finding the pics....maybe it was just my session, but there are no _cooter or bare breast shots.  they are seductive, but not pornographic.

ditto erika..if you have taken pics in a bathing suit it pretty much the same amount of clothing...unless you decide to be more risky. even kamila was saying how girls are a lot more showy now with the holding of the breasts pose she says it isnt as common as you think and that was never one of her poses that she says to do. if a girl wants to do it they do it on their own

Ditto Erika and Stacey...I just did them with Kamila as well and like Erika said there were no nude photos. I did them bc FI specifically said one time "i wish i had a picture of you like that" when I was standing in bra/panties one day - so after hearing about it on here I took the opportunity. I did a group session where there were other girls from on here ...obviously we didn't take group shots but we were all around getting ready, etc. together - it was a lot of fun I have to admit I was very nervous at first but I couldn't believe how easy and comfy it was to do...it was a big confidence booster for me without a doubt but I know for sure FI is going to die when he sees them

The pics I think were more for me than for MH.  I have a few in frames and I was never naked.  Some are really really tasteful/beautiful and it makes me feel good to see those pics.
It takes Shakespeare, a genius, to come up with "He dies." And yet every time I read those two words, I find myself overwhelmed with dysphoria. And I know it's only natural to be sad, but not because of the words "He dies." but because of the life we saw prior to the words

ditto spanisheyes---i did it more for me than my husband.i have 3 of them hanging in our master bathroom and i love seeing them and so does he. one is of my naked back with jeans on bottom, one is me laying down not facing the camera wearing a pretty nightgown thing, and the third is me running my hand up my calf. totally tasteful and classy.

I'm doing them more for me than FI as well.  I actually don't have much confidence and I hate the way I look in photos normally, but I'm thinking that with pro hair, makeup, and a professional photographer taking sexy, fun shots, I may actually see myself in a different light and feel better about myself.  I don't have a lot of good pictures of myself at all. The fact that it's trendy now opened my eyes to it and it really helped to hear everyone else's positive experiences with their b-pics.  Makes me feel better about mine.  If no one else I knew did it before me, I don't know if I would either.
