if i were to consistently have trouble ttc, yes - i would begin to chart.  I have read a great book regarding charting, and it's really interesting what you can learn about your body (not even baby related) by charting!  it's crazy!

I have read it all on the Nest too and those ladies are all business. I was just going to let it happen when it happens. But like Dana said if I find I'm having trouble I guess you have to be more proactive.

It is actually.  it seriously is really good, not just saying it.  even if you never plan on charting, it's so interesting to learn what your body is capable of!  crazy!

Charting, to me, just takes away from the "fun" of trying for a baby.  but like I said before - if I couldn't get pregnant after a long time, i'm sure it would take a toll on me, and i'd probably end up trying it out.

I am planning on reading Taking Charge of your Fertility in the near future... i keep hearing such good things about it!I don't think i'll chart. Isn't babymaking supposed to be fun?!?! Fun and charts don't quite go together in my world   ;-)

also - if you plan on posting over on the bump ttc - do NOT tell them that you're not charting! :)  no one will want to answer your questions!!! you think people are nasty here sometimes?  try talking to a bunch of girls taht are having a hard time getting pregnant!  I believe I got flamed for even saying the word prego or preggers on there once!

yea thats what im thinking too dana.they have that book listed as the bible on the getting preggo board..lolI may pick it up though it sounds interesting..syn is going to think im nuts! Its just when i read about the months and months of people trying and the miscarriages..im like damn should i try ahead of time...but then what if it happens on the first go round...and then im like maybe all that charting and trying is what messes stuff up.hopefully im blessed to have it happen w/o the need for all of that.

doesnt that take the fun out of babymaking?  I figure you just do it all the time and nature takes care of the rest
  • edited December 2011
Nature doesn't always do what you want it to do.If I had trouble I would chart.

No I will not be.  When and if it happens will be fine with me.  If I run into problems getting pregnant then I will talk to my Dr.  I don't like the layout of the Nest at all.

I figure I might try it if we have trouble. I never heard of charting before the Knot/Nest. And I also didn't realize that trouble with conception, miscarriages and other pregnancy problems were so relatively common - obviously people don't talk about it that much in real life, so I foolishly assumed that getting pregnant was pretty easy (especially when you see all these pregnant teen girls walking around, know what I mean?). *cue "The More You Know" shooting star*

I can't commit to taking temps every morning at the same time.  I have been checking my CM (ew) but thats it.  It'll happen when it happens.

Reminds me of that SATC episode where charlotte makes Trey conserve his juices...I'm sure in the beginning we wont but if we need to do it to get the job done, then so be it.

I'm kinda in the same camp as MB. Everyone I know seemed to be able to get pg pretty easily, although I guess people don't like talking about it with friends/family and can more easily communicate with internet "strangers" going through the same thing. That said, I'm still young enough, and without health problems, that a lot of doctors want you to try for a year before you see them about IF treatments (clomid, for instance) and stuff like that.

Like a lot of the previous posts. I don't plan on charting, but I think if I had trouble getting pregnant (like over a year of trying) then I would chart.

What about using those ovulation tests?
  • edited December 2011
these nesties use kits, lubes, thermometers, a website, a book, etcits a lot of stuff going on..im just in awe of the things they use.  I could see just using the kit but i think you have to track temp and all that other stuff too

I never heard of charting before the Knot/Nest.But that's what natural family planning is? (Well, one method.)Also, there are many different methods...not all methods use checking temp.I would consider charting for birth control uses, although I have not been educated enough to do so as of now. If I did that, then certainly it'd be easy to continue to chart when switching from trying to avoid to trying to conceive. If I were simply coming off BC though, I'd probably do as others said and see what happens and then chart after 6 months or a year or so. I would definitely chart before turning to meds--I don't like to put substances in my body until necessary.

some of these ladies jump right into charting the first month of trying...i just have the patience for all of thatat least give it a try the old fashion way for a couple months at least.I thought maybe they were the norm but from the looks of it..they may just be a tad ocd..to each his/her ownyea melissa i guess i do "chart" its pretty much: period check...day 14 is this day so give or take a couple these are my get pg days..and after day 30 if i dont have a visitor i most likely have a problem/blessing..lol
