Even my CHEAP-o father said it was worth every penny and he would have paid even double! It seriously added to our reception. I think for a night time reception it makes the room feel magical. I had the GMs wives telling me they felt like they were in a fairytale.I used Jim at JB lighting, I thought he was awesome. I have reviews and contact info in my siggy. Pricing starts at around $1k

We did it through our DJ.  I wasn't really for it in the beginning but DH really wanted it and I'm so happy we got it!   It was completely worth the extra cost!   I think the cost also depends on how large your room is.  The bigger the room, the more LEDs you'll need to fill it up.

it's the one "un-necessary" splurge we have allowed for in our budget.we saw before and after pics of venues with the LED uplighting, and wow, what a transformation.Prices range b/t $1000-2000 depending on how many lights are being used.We are using them in conjunction with our DJ's sound package, so we negotiated a better deal.  we got about 25% off the cost of what the lights would have been full price.FYI, we're using 30 lights, and we're in a ballroom that holds about 300 people, if that helps you out.

I would go for it.  As you can see from the photos, it really makes for a great picture!  From my research, most packages start at 1k and can go up to 5k depending on the size of your room.  Bigger rooms will require more lights.  We got the uplighting through our DJ - Elite Sound Entertainment in Saddle Brook.  If you bundle services, they may provide discounts!

We had the uplighting and the stars on the ceiling.. All from our DJ. It was around 1400 for both. $750 each. Like everyone else has said. It was worth every penny. The details, centerpieces and everything else just popped. and you pictures... will be awesome. =)

I'm using Elite Sound Entertainment for uplighting as well. Loralei24, that picture is amazing, now I'm even more exciting for my uplights! They showed me tons of before/after pics and it was a no brainer for us. It really does make a difference

We are having our DJ do it as well. It's an additional $400 for the lighting and after seeing pics on here, it's def going to be worth it.

I always have to chime in on a lighting post. I loooved my lighting and used Jim at JB Lighting. It was around 1k for a 400 person size room. He will meet with you and tell you exactly what you need. http://jblightingproduction.com/
